Something very similar happened to me a few months ago when I was moving some fuses around after my AM2 fuse blew on my 09 Prius due to the inverter coolant pump suddenly dying as I was driving 40 mph down the street. I was moving one around so I could slowly drive home. I replaced the inverter coolant pump, and replaced the AM2 fuse, but when I started the car the ABS lights came on. (Which has never come on before) I damn near wanted to cry, but I composed myself and looked at the fuse box and noticed that I put a fuse in a spot with no legs instead of back where it was supposed to go. 😂

I really don't see where you screwed up because a guy has to start somewhere. Just a real world issue with all this electronics! I don't believe the transmission shop did this but it's just another reason why a technician needs to look at those things before they start a job. As always a customer will say it wasn't there before. Nice work, Oz!

Good job! I'm working on a 2012 Forester. Just got the engine back in after piston, rings and valve job. On the heads there are intake volume controls called tumbler controls. When I found out that it needed a valve job, I pulled the tumbler actuators, the gears and the indicator magnets. Looking back, I should have just pulled the tumbler units off of the heads. I'm getting codes for the tumblers being both open and closed at the same time. A couple of things I figured out. The magnets are labeled and are side specific. There's a washer that belongs behind the magnets to give them a particular spacing. I corrected both of those items. My codes changed a bit, but am still getting open and closed codes at the same time. I don't have the particular codes because the screenshot is on my phone I just smashed!! Any ideas? I'd really like to be done with this car! My friend would like to get it back. Thank you!

Here's the hate. Mmm....right at the beginning, you began to look at a simplified diagram provided: Battery --------- FL Main (Front Left Main Fuse) --------- EFI No 1 fuse (Electronic Fuel Injector No 1 fuse) -------- A25 port on the ECM. I would've started right on the Battery and traced that line to the end (and used a DMM). $1 fix. All that stuff that you were doing the TopDon I would not have done until I had traced the above circuit and confirmed that everything was OK.

I think the lesson is go for the easy test points first. I'll take checking at a fuse over trying to find a connector any day. The other idea I'd suggest is "avoiding regrets". If you took the interior apart to get to a connector, only to find out at the end it was a blown fuse, you'd feel pretty bad. Knock out the easy checks first. I'd say either of these rules would overrule "find a halfway point and check there".
