I have the Izotope Standard plugins, and this was very helpful. Although Ozone 9 Standard has several additional modules (EQ Match, Exciter, plus analog modules), this video is great for understanding the basic functions.

“Learn threshold” is based on the integrated LUFS of the audio (I think!!) from when you enable it, which is probably why the short term LUFS meter doesn’t match the loudness target you set using the learn threshold feature!

By far, the best Sound/Song Mastering class ever. Thank you VERY much!!! This is to teach... Maybe I am going beyond the message but, I think that iZotopo 9 was not considered a go to plugin... :-)))

Excellent. I have Ozone Advanced and this is so useful, thanks. Also lots of sensible statements regarding the presets etc.

@@MasteringExplained I have one more question on this Thomas, this is something that has always confused me. Assuming I have set the peaks and transients correctly, if I know I am going to put the file on (for example) Spotify, should I aim to get the master output level set at about -14 LUFS or does it not matter? For example, if I have my overall song balanced correctly and the loudness is at -8 LUFS and I post it to Spotify, will it just sound like the overall volume is turned down or when they reduce it to -14 will it affect the transients and overall dynamics of the song? I have never seen anyone cover this part in great detail so it would be great for you to explain it, and even better if you used Ozone! :-) Also, I have checked with the latest version of Ozone to see if the Q control can be monitored live when soloed but unfortunately it is still the same (unless you do it the way you demonstrated). Finally, I like your tonge in cheek comment regarding the ‘Learn’ feature. This is great for us amateurs but when it comes to professional mastering, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.😂

I would just leave it at -8 LUFS if that sounds the best, Spotify will simply reduce the level. Thanks for checking the solo behaviour, good to know! /Thomas

what other plugins would you use to complete the ozone job?

Have to ask. Why review oz9 when oz10 is out now?
@MasteringExplained2 жыл бұрын
People keep asking about Ozone, so we thought we'd have a look at it. Ozone Elements is what I have at the moment and that's still at v9. We'll probably review the full version as well at some point. /Thomas
