Did I miss the big reveal? Not sure on my own if I could tell you which is which (comments below think O10 is #1 by majority.) To my ears the second one was better. The first one had a nice warmth but was over compressed. You could hear the vocal and the snare clearly… but not much else. The second had a little fizz at the top that I didn’t care for, but was much more articulate and detailed. You could hear the hi-hat work on the drums which got absolutely buried on the first one. Much preferred the second one, though I’d roll off a bit of the highs. Which is what I think the first one was going for but over did it. Scrolled down and found out that the first one was Ozone after deciding which one I preferred and why. This was helpful. The program is great, but I need to trust and follow my ears…

I trialled Ozone 10 but my old computer just couldn’t handle it. Even with buffering up to max it still coughed and spluttered so I couldn’t really see its capabilities. I have Ozone 9 elements which it runs ok so I will stick with that at the moment. I’m using on my master bus a blue cat gain plugin to drop output to -18 then a Drawmer S73 master compressor compressing 2-3 db then ozone elements 9. That combination seems to work ok for me.

@@RadiumRecordsHollywood I think that body or muddiness people are hearing is the impact module. I don't always use everything in an ozone chain. I prefer to analyze it and go back in my mix to fix some of the issues it identifies. Then re-run the learning module. The less it processes your audio the better your mix likely is. Other times I will use it. But it really just depends on the mix yo. It's a tool not magic.

Thats very interesting and thank you so much for the video! Think its up to taste but master #1 sounds better for me because it has more body. I think master #2 really lacks of that but sounds more open and clear but seems over pronounced in the highs or upper mids. Sometimes I'm wondering how the physiological ability of aging ears affects mastering. Older dudes probably prefer the second one, but I like the first one more. Second one even hurt a little bit in my ears. Since Ozone is using data of chart songs of the genres for feeding the AI of the plugin I think the first one is the ozone master and added a lot of low-end what's more common for today's pop music. Pleeeeeease tell! :D I need to know so badly :D

Nice video, although i dont prefer when someone shows so much excitement for something that is just normal having nowdays. E.g. softclipping. I think all the reviews should be just objective and not 'everything is so dope' otherwise it looks like its sponsored. I am not a mastering guru, but i dont always like what Ozone does to the mix and sometimes you cannot surely tell what it does to it and why. I think the better idea is to have separate plugins for all these things and just practise your ears how to achieve what you want by comparing to reference. Would you be willing to replace Gullfoss with Stabilizer? When it comes to track comparison, i like your (n2) mastering version more. Version 1 is just too suby, punchy and cluttered, version 2 is clear and balanced.

I think it’s ironic that you can compare two tools that are not actually put into practice in x amount of time and call one better than the other. It’s a terrible comparison concept because of the simple variable that you will get better results the longer you use it. There’s a reason why ozone is always a topic and if you hate it in any way your most likely terrible at using it
