The high B class is still the best all around I think! It looks great!

It's a great wing. I'm bringing it and the Photon to Colombia, that way I won't fear light wind launches.

Thanks for the great video. I just got my swift 6 and your video is so far the best video I have seen on this wing.

Thank you for watching and the kind words! I'm not sure if you read the video description, but this is video is not up to my usual standards for the reasons I mentioned. But I'm happy to have finally finished this never-ending video project and getting it published.

I was looking for an honest real time review of the swift 6 wing specifically on launches, flight handling and landing and your video had all the details I was hoping for. I have one question though, in terms of flying weight on ML size, where is your flying weight on this wing? I am close to max on my swift 6 and haven’t flown it yet to see how it does.
@NelsonsWings10 ай бұрын
@@gargantuanz9390 a little bit above the midpoint. I've exchanged several emails with Russ Ogden about this over the years, for different wings of this class and higher, and Russ says there is no need to load these wings up to be near the top of the weight range. They do most of the testing at the midpoint. Mid to 2/3 is the sweet spot.
@gargantuanz939010 ай бұрын
thank you for the good info on the weight. I try not to load the wing to the max weight.

Nice Video. Sorry to hear about your wife. God bless. Frank in Ireland. Currently in rush 6. Love it best wing ever. Im too hard on a wing to get the light version. Hope you are ok
@NelsonsWings6 ай бұрын
Hi Frank, thank you very much for your kind words. I really enjoyed my rush 6, I made a video of it that got quite a few views. It has a good home now, I have sort of a pattern of buying the full weight wing first, flying it for a while, and then selling it when the lightweight version comes out and then eventually I sell the lightweight version too and move on to repeat the pattern. If I wasn't cycling my wings very often I might stick with a heavyweight version. A caveat to that is that they are definitely heavier to hike with and I'm getting weak and I have back problems. And another thing I really hate is hiking up to launch and encountering low or nil wind conditions and having to hike down. Our launches just don't work for forwards. Thank you for the kind words regarding my wife, it's lonely, but I have had many years to prepare for her demise - she really wasn't fully functional for the last 2 years of her life, and the last year she was semi-comatose and bed bound. Things are going pretty good, I'm traveling more, I just got back from an eclipse viewing and I'll make a video of that for my other channel soon. I guess one recent blow is to learn that because I'll be filing my federal income tax as a single person next to year, my taxes will go up by almost $5,000. Ouch.

Great review and I'm very sorry to hear about your wife - I hope you manage to find some peace of mind. Could you give a quick comparison in your experience of the D4 versus the Swift6 in terms of ease of launching, glide/speed, and general stability? I find my D4 a little slow/heavy to launch but love its flying characteristics - however as I get older I'm looking at a slightly easier launch option but still with enough XC/thermalling capability, thanks. NB: I currently fly the ML D4 at the very top of the weight range (105-107 all up) with mostly light wind launch sites but strong thermals
@NelsonsWings9 ай бұрын
That's an excellent question. You might know I sold my D4 a while back to a friend to fund an Alpina 4. It's much easier to launch and flies even more solidly than the D4, despite the light fabric. At present I have 3 wings, the Photon, the A4, and the SwiftSix. My poor A4 has been in the closet for the last year, because I hike with the S6 when it's a long hike, or when the launch is snaggy and difficult. The Photon is VERY seductive, the glide is amazing, it's solid, and it sniffs out thermals, and the semi light fabric is not quite as heavy as the D4. However the 6.5 AR makes it tricky to launch sometimes. The S6 is a great wing for general use if you don't need 2-liner performance and want a more relaxing flight. Lots of them here in Colombia having better XC than me ... it's the pilot more than the wing. The glide is good, super easy to launch, especially in light wind. On my Infinite Quantum channel I posted a crude phone edit of a flight with my Photon. Also lots of D4s here!

@NelsonWings Thanks so much for the info - my buddy recently got the new Photon and absolutely loves it! I'm also thinking of trading in my D4 for an A4 (it wasn't released when I got my D4 a few years ago) while it still retains its value - will look into that option but will also take a look at the photon - after hip replacement surgery last year I'm just a little paranoid about taking an inadvertent drag/tumble on launch but still want decent air performance (nothing worse than a boring wing..) Anyway - fly high and if you're ever over in South-East Asia or Himalayas give me a shout - would be a pleasure to show you around!
