A note about Ozzy and Sharon being nice people... I used to be a stagehand in Southern California. Primarily building concert stages for large venues. Everything from plywood roads to high steel and rigging. We did a festival in Orange County California, The KROQ Weenie Roast. Ozzy and Sabbath played that year. The guys on the A team had done 23 hours straight and we're going to have about 5 hours until the union guys got sound and lighting out, and we could start a 15 hour teardown. My Boss (Fred Saunders) was in the past Ozzy's bodyguard on tour. As he wasn't staying the night, my boss asked Ozzy if we could crash in his Star trailers. After saying yes, Sharon went to all 5 trailers with her assistant and made the beds for us. I'll never forget them for that. 5 hours in a bed with AC after a week of 17 to 23 hours days during the summer, was heaven.

Heard similar with ACDC. They were treated so poorly coming up as support bands they vowed to treat people nicely.

@@AndrewRooneyDrums I worked for them on tour. They'd have production watch us and take notes. On pay day they would sit at a table and personally hand us out checks with cash bonuses for guys who were noted for hard work. P.S. They also had clear decks downstage center with umm, ladies in "the industry" on mattresses with "toys" directly below. Great work experience.

On the off chance Ozzy reads these comments, I'd want to convey the sheer pleasure I've had going to every show I could as a kid. 1980-1999, I'm 55 now and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you for your dedication, the music's always been a warm companion through the good and bad...mostly good. We were to meet at a record signing in New York's, The Village, lower east side, maybe @ Tower records...anyway, because these shows and others, it always led to adventure. Taking a bus from rural NJ to NYC MSG or East Rutherford's Brendon Bern Arena back then, a handful of other venues, it was just awesome so thanks again. The show with Randy Rhodes was exceptionally amazing, I'll always miss him dearly, he was special. Best of days old friend...we'll see in the end, come on now! Should I mention the theatrical smoke bomb's we threw right before he hit stage at MSG? Was meant to be cool and was but I don't think the sound engineers were happy as they landed real close to them on the floor. The things we do as young punks I guess...I think Ozzy might remember that one, lol. Lot's of stories...peace be with you Ozzy.

In North America there is a growing trend to go back to vinyl and it is reflected in the pricing at vinyl outlets. My oldest son recently decided to reconstitute the stereo I had when he was growing up and he managed to find all of the original components. He has a lot of contacts who are doing the same kind of thing. He says, and I agree with him, that the old originals have a warmth in the sound that is lacking in a digital format. He called me the other evening to ask about Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. He has had my albums for years but seldom if ever listened to them. He discovered EL&P and he's totally blown away by what they produced. I steered him to listen to King Crimson "Court of the Crimson King" for his next listen to see what he thinks.

So 100% you need to run out and get a decent player and makes sure you have good speakers too. Second, Ozzy was my first ever rock band I listened to. Diary of a Madman was my first and remains in my top 10 albums of all time. Masterpiece. You are so lucky to get this from him. Really a treasure. Listening to music on vinyl is a very deliberate activity- it is not a background thing- you sit down with the jacket and liner notes and listen to the first side, then you get up and flip the disc and listen to side 2 - - it's all very deliberate. - While you listen your reading lyrics, production notes all the good stuff. Shit back in the day, I would then record the album onto cassette so I could listen in my car, make mix tapes of your favorite tracks - the original playlist. I love listening to music on vinyl - the only real drawback is if you ever move house - a thousand records on vinyl are fucking heavy lol. Congrats on the gift from The Prince - well deserved.

You're right. Liner notes were a rabbit hole for me too when I grew up. If one name stood for quality (say Martin Birch as a producer for example), I could reliably pick up a record by a different band who used the same engineer or producer and be sure it will be good. And I was never disappointed, the system worked, in any possible direction, vocals, drums, guitar, bass. That's what liner notes can do, especially if you have limited funds as a kid. Cheers to you from Palmerston North. Great channel.

Sweet! There is nothing like opening a vinyl record album and playing it for the first time while you read the liner notes etc.. Get a turntable, you will be happy you did! I Love OZZY!

What an awesome gift to receive from such an idol. Love watching Andrew, always informative and entertaining- even the prince of darkness can appreciate 👍
