@@AudioStorm1980 Yeah, he always used EMGs, even on No More Tears. But I get what you mean, he nowadays use too much chorus or whatever effect he's got going on, even on rhythm parts, and that's what makes it kinda blurry and not tight like on No More Tears.

I was a huge fan of Zakk once he first broke in with Ozzy. Loved No Rest for the Wicked, and Hero is still my favorite Ozzy song ever, but I feel Zakk never got the credit he deserved for just how amazing No More Tears was across the board. I think his songwriting skills and solo creation just coalesced on this disc. There is not a single track that is lacking. Hellraiser is personal favorite- if that doesn't get your adrenaline going to play along with you may be in asystole... oh wait I Don't Want to Change the World is my favorite... oh I give up, this whole disc just rips and tears from start to finish.

I remember seeing Ozzy at the Shoreline Theater in Mountain View, CA. and it was Zakk's first tour with him. Anyway they took a break from Ozzy and Sabbath and for about 20 minutes Zakk laid down the absolute PUREST Hendrix you could ever hear. I mean he did Hendrix better than Hendrix himself!!! But Zakk has defined his very own sound which cannot be mistaken, thus establishing himself as one of the true "Guitar gods".

I hate to say it, and I’ll give credit where it’s due cause he pioneered a lot of the play style most of the younger guys followed after him, but a lot of people have done Hendrix better then Hendrix. SRV did for sure, but like I said that’s not to take credit from where it’s due, SRV loved Jimi, he just played it so much cleaner every time.

I could listen to nothing but Ozzy works, and be content for the rest of my life. Every Sabbath album, every Ozzy album, everything Ozzy was featured in on the 80’s like Close My Eyes Forever by Lita Ford, but to get to hear Zakk’s licks completely separate from Ozzy is truly a masterpiece, he plays so clean. He’s like a mix of Randy’s classical sound, and Kirk Hammett’s speed, with his own Barbarian screech on it. 💜🖤

Perfect example of playing for the song...not trying to show off any crazy shredding or amazing technique...just playing melodically what needs to be played with feeling and emotion and great tone...mixing in beautiful classical stylings....bluesy pentatonic licks....a soaring solo with great tone. This boys and girls is the difference between guitarists who can put together a memorable song...and the guys who are technically great...but whose music has no warmth and no soul.

That’s a pro, right there. When I was kid, watching Larry Bird had me chomping at the bit to get my ball and run out the door to practice dribbling, shooting, then shots off the dribble until the neighbors called mom and asked her to get me to stop so they could sleep….After watching Zakk Wyler meticulously demonstrate flawless technique with seamless transitions…I hope the neighbors are in the mood to hear everything I know ‘D-Standard’ cause Mom don’t call the shots anymore!!

I remember early 90s hunting for tabs in guitar world magazines and learning this song. The basics at least. Listening over and over and finding the little nuances the tabs didn’t show. Fighting to the front row at concerts just to see how the guitarists formed the chords or what fingers they used. Wish the internet was around when I was a kid. Lol. My ribs getting smashed on the gates up front focusing on breathing and catching the guitarist up close was not easy. Good memories though. Ha!

Saw Ozzy in i think 2009. I was up front and Zakk was playing intro right in front of me. He was drunkas hell, spitting in the air and trying to catch it, big top hat on and stuff. He goes from the clean 12 string to the dirty 6 string and he kept strumming the 12 and fingering the 6 for a good 8 bars and didn't realise what he was doing , playing with all the switches and knobs and looking at his tech like WTF. Then he had a moment and realised what he was doing HAHAHAH, he had the best look on his face when he realised. Silly Billy! hahahaha. He also threw out a gibson V/SG into the audience that night.
