This is video is a fan creation. There is no known video recording of Brad Gillis playing "Symptom Of The Universe". Only audio. You're watching a bunch of clips spliced together. Wish it were real. But the interesting thing is, this IS the actual real and raw audio recording of Ozzy. His vocals were awful during the entire 'Speak of the Devil' concert so his record label Epic dubbed all of it with older studio-recorded lyrics. If you watch the entire concert you'll see that often his mouth does not sync-up to the words. And if you pay attention to his vocals on the studio-released live concert recording, you'll hear he sounds perfect, (as perfect as Ozzy can be) nothing like his actual burnt-out cracking voice you can hear in this raw audio recording. Brad Gillis gave an amazing performance. It would have been great if he had taken on a permanent role in the band, but he left because Ozzy's wife/manager Sharon was a nightmare to work with. But that's another story.

Hey Actually good news there is this show well preferring to the full concerts well from " Speak of the devil Album " mainly the actual video I seen was the second night on September 26 & 27 now I'm not totally sure about the first night bc it's the whole show of the second night there Recorded at The Ritz in NYC of 82' !! It was the main only clip footage I seen from that & Yes I agree with you I want more heck I want the whole freakin' entire show on VHS heck DVD , Blue ray it doesn't matter which format as long as I see it !! Whatever they do & he said that there was this mainly one camera man standing towards the left close to the stage , so basically the whole show was tooken from an Left side angle !! it is a "B flat 4" the highest note, Super naught is B4 which is harder the Bb is an ahhh vowel , and everything below it , B is more like" IT" and C5 is "uhhh" all the way up to E5 which is " oohh" vowel. Oz uses a lot of Buzz and cuts the air to his nose , AKA " sings through his nose" the high notes are a heavy mix , meaning you have to develop the higher register by doing scales and then add lower register to the upper register so you make a chord, your really singing two notes at once letting the upper note resonate, while leaning into the lower register

Video here is of a different song, not SOTU. If you take a close look, Ozzy and the crowds clapping isn't in time with the audio, closeups of fretwork on both bass and guitar ain't right, it's an ok effort to get it to look somewhat realistic, but this 'the real deal'. The version of this song that kicks off the live 'Speak of the Devil' album (released between Diary and Bark at the Moon) fucken smokes and is fantastic. I've read that Ozzy's vocals for that 'live' album were re-recorded to make them sound better. The audio here is probably what he sounded like live. Also, the Speak of the Devil album has no 'Randy & Ozzy era songs on it. It is all Black Sabbath songs. It is a wonderful album in its own right and Brad Gillis pumps new live into these classic Sabbath tunes!

He shaved his head bald around this time and was wearing a blonde wig on the Speak of the devil album and tour and got arrested for pissing on the Alamo. Also suffering from the recent loss of Randy didn't help his drinking and drugging........

An accurate snippet of Ozzy's live vocals, from around that period. A combination of hard/regular boozing, lack of rest (voice and in general), smoking, poor breathing technique, guitars not down-tuned, would combine to cause issues and make for a serious drop in vocal quality/strength/consistency. Sabbath also played such tricky songs live, with standard tuning, but Ozzy managed ok, attacking this particular number less cleanly later on. With more of a rasp/growl. Ie the "Hammersmith '78" show). In particular, some of the earlier songs written for Ozzy, weren't the easiest to replicate live. Still, when Bob and Lee were still band members and everyone was giving their all to make things a success, it showed in the live performances that are out there and now online. Also, when playing abroad and most likely better rested, away from the readily available excesses of home (the U.K and States etc)!!

To all the people talking smack about his voice, he's pretty right on for the most part. I've sang in many metal and punk bands over the years. When you've been playing alot of shows and drinking, not sleeping, smoking, drugs etc. Your voice will definitely begin to fail at a certain point. It sucks but it is what it is. Ozzy can hit those notes guaranteed but his voice is just fucked here from partying and lots of concerts. It's not that he lost his ability at the time to hit the notes.

Sorry if it was mentioned on here already, but judging from the guitar solo, which I could barely hear, and the fact that Ozzy didn't seem to forget the words, I'd say this is from the first night as I just listened to a version of the second night and it had the solo brad played on the actual album. But Ozzy not only sounded bad, but he totally butchered the lyrics and almost just stopped singing in places. I'm not absolutely sure which night was the version of the music that made it to the album, but this one isn't it.

Sounds like the actual vocal track from one of the nights, not the studio cleaned up or vocal recorded with no audiance track that is on Speak of Devil record. Ozzy had a shaved head during the SOTD shows at the Ritz, or some very small place. Thst is why the record sounds so good. Hard rock/metal sounds much better live in a small place than a big arena. And they didnt gdt to reverse much on a few songs, you can actually here some mistakes on he record.

Ozzy new sabbath was going to release a live record, which would obviously have lots of Sabbath with Ozzy songs on it. The video on this clip isn't even Symptom of the Universe.
