❤😊❤i love porsches. I have owned a 1972 sharp pearl white 911t, and a 1974 signal orange 914, when i was younger. Wish i had both cars still.

I bought my 1973 914 1.7 new and owned it for 16 years. Straight out of the box it was fun if unpredictable but also a good start for modification. Over the years with tire and suspension changes it handled beautifully and it could be played by applying or getting off the throttle. All that I was able to do myself. A final modification to the engine brought the power from the mid 70's to around 120 put it in the league with other cars of that era. Can't judge the numbers from back then to what we have today. I would love to have it back.

Did the car leak when it rained b/c of the targa?

@@Jack-si2pg No it never leaked but it squeaked and made so much noise that I only used it when it was necessary.

I can't watch videos like this cause i get jealous and want the car. Like i catch a fever for a certain car and it's all i can think about. The 914 is kinda my current obsession.

Great video, the 914 was underestimated,you had to drive one. I’m the original owner of a 73 914-2.0 which only came with appearance group in Canada 🇨🇦,still own the car and still all original even the paint. Not proud of it but in my younger days I use to street race against a fellow in his 73 911T and it was always very close.. Great touring car with both trunks and excellent gas mileage.

Thing about a 914 is that you can make it what you want. 911 6 cyl, Subaru 4, V8, straight 4, and any of the above just add a turbo if that ticks your box. Don’t worry about original 70 HP or 11sec 0-60... I have x3 , a six, a V8 renegade and a V6 2.7 twin turbo Audi. Up to you what you want.

Wait, you have a 2.7t in a 914!?? Can I see this anywhere? I 2.7t swapped my b7 avant and love it. plus I've got a spare k04 2.7 kicking around.. I plan on 1.8t swapping the 914, but a 2.7t... oof!

What is the motor in the car and what is the exhaust? My first look at a 914 was in 1973. I was pumping gas at an Arco station is Seattle. This little box car with the top off pulled in. Tall blond thin guy hops out in pure white tennis outfit, racket was in the passenger side. He pulls a lever, opens the front hood and there is the gas cap!!! It was a black 2.0 and I thought it was a really cool car and still do. Something about the sail panel kinda like on the Ferrari 250LM which I thinks is one of the most beautiful cars ever. I now have a 1970 and 73 along with a 912e and a 1972 911T. For years I have had to listen to people who don't get it pick on all of these cars. Oh, it's not a S or it's just a 4 banger...Now the not so gear heads are going Oh I get it now... And the prices are getting crazy. Been telling those same people that the 16v Sirocco is pretty cool too. Also have one and they are pretty cool.

Wasn't the 914 just a better looking VW bug? The only one I would want would be the 914 6 GT but good luck with that!

Not quiet Shane...... Let's start with mid engine vs rear engine. But wait, there's more. 😁
@shane0114713 жыл бұрын
@@LemonySnicket-EUC I get all that but the poor things can't even get out of it's own way. Yes I know it was mid engine BUT look at the 911 which has had it's engine in the wrong place for decades and look how that turned out. It was considered absolutely lethargic even for the time period and was considered a failure. I think it would of done better if they just badged it as a VW (Kind of what they did in Europe sort of) At the end of the day I love the 914 but only the 6 (Which it should of had from day one) And not a VW drivetrain as that is what caused it to fail as you had to get out and push when going up a hill...
@guyforlogos3 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to like it. Nevertheless, a 914 2.0 was faster then just about every car in its class, 2 seat sports cars. Which the 911 is not in that class since it is a four seat touring car. It is slow for today, but 0-60 in 9.9 and the 1/4 mile in 17.8. The Alfa Romeo Spyder 0-60 in 11.3 and 1/4 mile in 17.7 The Fiat Spider 0-60 in 11.2 and 1/4 mile in 18.4 The Fiat X1/9 does 0-60 in 10.4 seconds The MG Midget 0-60 in a leisurely 17.9 seconds If you want fast, the 914-6 is quicker then those but it is bested by a modern Toyota Camry 4cyl The Porsche 914 is about the drive, the feel, the handling and less about speed. So in conclusion, you obviously don’t get it.

@@guyforlogos I do not believe I said that I did not like the 914? You are 100 percent correct that I do not get the 914/4 at all...
@guyforlogos3 жыл бұрын
@@shane011471 Not in those words, you implied it. BTW… not a bug, not even close, 4 wheel discs, front suspension right from the 911, the engine is a type 4 vw, not a type 1, it’s closer to the bus. But the 2.0 had cylinder heads designed by Porsche, transaxle from the 911, was fuel injected…. The 4 cylinders were at least. The 6 was carbed. You said it was lethargic even for it’s time period…. I addressed that, your wrong. The 914 was an ENTRY LEVEL 2 seater, it cleaned up with a 1-2-3 class win at LeMan and was overall a success, they sold far more then they expected in the short 7 years they built it. It was cancelled mostly due a new CEO taking over at Porsche and to the German Mark vs USD pricing it out of the market. You seem to want to knock a car your very unfamiliar with. Why not learn about one, Why not drive a one, a good one. Do that before you say dumb things you know nothing about.

If going fast in a straight line is your thing you should reconsider four cylinder sports cars from the 70s, especially 914s. Maybe an old Toyota Cressida would give you some straight line acceleration without the big price tag.
