P&O Cruises Aurora - Day 3 - New Years Eve, Hamburg and More Cabin Problems

This is the third vlog of our P&O Cruises Aurora series. We were onboard for the New Year 2024 celebration cruise. There had been some damage to Aurora from the previous cruise, resulting in a delayed embarkation, which you can find out about in the earlier videos in this series.
On day 3 we arrive in our first port, which is Hamburg where we docked overnight to enjoy the New Year fireworks. We also saw a great performance from the Bluejays in the Curzon Theatre and enjoyed the disco in Masquerade until the early hours of the morning.
We joined P&O Cruises Aurora on on Friday 29th December 2023 for it's New Year cruise. This cruise visited Hamburg and Zeebrugge which is the port for Bruges. Aurora is the smallest and oldest ship in the P&O fleet, she entered service in the year 2000 and is able to carry a maximum of 1950 passengers across 10 decks.

Hey, that cabin situation is just ridiculous! Wish P&O would give these older ships a proper month refit to give them some love. Great Vlog, that tunnel is cool. Wow those fireworks, need to get on a new years cruise at some point.

Thank you! The fireworks were fab, lots more than we expected. Very true about the older ships, I know they’ve got big dry docks scheduled for Aurora and Arcadia so we’ll see what happens with them…

The Aurora is an old ship ironically built in Germany not far from Hamburg. One of the most difficult things to get right on a cruise ship is the air conditioning.

Do you think you were just unlucky with the air con or is it because it’s an older ship?

I think a bit of both! Couldn’t have done much about the weather on the previous cruise that caused some damage but I suppose the older ships are more susceptible to it, and harder to repair.
