P&O Cruises Aurora - Day 2 - Sea Day

This is the second vlog of our P&O Cruises Aurora series. We were onboard for the New Year 2024 celebration cruise. There had been some damage to Aurora from the previous cruise, resulting in a delayed embarkation, which you can find out about in the previous video in this series. In this video we continue to experience issues as a result of the storm damage, but do our best not to let this ruin our day at sea. We enjoy a dining room lunch, Applause! by the Headliners Theatre Company and a late night trip to the Horizon Buffet.
We joined P&O Cruises Aurora on on Friday 29th December 2023 for it's New Year cruise. This cruise visited Hamburg and Zeebrugge which is the port for Bruges. Aurora is the smallest and oldest ship in the P&O fleet, she entered service in the year 2000 and is able to carry a maximum of 1950 passengers across 10 decks.

We were on the previous cruise and this one and while we were in Alta we had no heating in our deck 5 outside cabin for 24 hours although we did have hot water,it was only when speaking to an officer we learned that the heating couldn't cope with the -22 degree temp especially as the doors were having to be left open, reception were obviously told to tell us it was being fixed, I must admit if having to choose I would rather have no heating than a really hot cabin

We definitely wouldn’t have fancied no heating in those temperatures! Yes we got the same impression with reception, we felt a bit sorry for them as they have no control over the situation but they’re the ones that have to speak to the annoyed passengers.

Was it formal dining only, or did they have an any time option too? I’ve got quite used to just turning up for dinner when I want these day 😋

They do have an anytime option, and from what we heard it worked quite well. No virtual queuing though, it was old school buzzers collected from the dining room.
