I’m not a Christian and I don’t believe the same things that P.O.D. does but I’ll always have a high level of respect for them because of this song. I can relate to being in a shitty situation and just hoping that you make it out alive. Right now I’m in college and I have a ton of friends and a girlfriend and some mornings I wake up and I’m so relieved to find myself in my studio apartment and not in my old bedroom at the program that I left years ago. @@Elijah-Bravo Hello, middle eastern Zoroastrians (the start of all religious origins) spoke allegorically in ancient times which were then passed on in its travels by the Greeks. The Romans in that era were deceptive and they had knowledge of control and power. Most of the world today, especially the western world, still follow an old Roman Systematic Law in which the Romans used the Zoroastrian/Greek translated (Judeo) Christian Bible and the masses thought the Bible to be literal when they captured territories and converted the people. Jesus (jehosh'ua) first came from the tradition of the Mithra but were then passed on through the Torah and renamed by the Christians (Crestians). 'The Bible' in its entirety has a wealth of knowledge in it because of its speech in parables and allegories, symbols and numerology, which explains astrology, meditation, human bodily functions but most importantly the human mind. The Kingdom of God is within you. God is love. 'Neville Goddard' and 'Dr. Joseph Murphy' are one of a few people who have translated the Bibles allegories by an Ethiopian rabbi named 'Abdullah'.

@J Rocker always blaming Jesus but never Satan. The blind stay blind as their hearts have turned cold
@knifelife77772 жыл бұрын
@J Rocker actually disease and things like stillborn babies and medical issues are a direct result of sin. More specifically the sins of their fathers(your sinful ways will reflect directly onto your generations, it is shown in the scriptures). And sir no disrespect to you but one day and I mean one day very soon, EVERY knee will bow and EVERY tongue will confess! 9 Wherefore ELOHIYM (God) also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of YAHUSHA every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that YAHUSHA HA MASHIAC (J.C) is Lord, to the glory of YAHUAH the Father. 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is ELOHIYM(God)which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of ELOHIYM (God), without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world Philippians 2:9-15

@@davidhoxley9818 It really does. Most producers turn down the low end on the guitarists amp and boost the mids and then turn up the lows and highs on the bass amp so they will sonically fit together like a puzzle piece. but i think they did the opposite here. they boosted the low end to the guitars and pushed the high mids on the bass so it would be able to punch through that massive guitar sound.
@fourward272 жыл бұрын
Former audio guy here and lifelong musician. I agree that I'm always puzzled how good this mix sounds. It's so hard to sonically fit in the other stuff with that massive wall of a guitar tone but they did it. I'm curious how many guitar tracks are in there. It sounds THICCCC
@thenothing27862 жыл бұрын
@@fourward27 Totally. You’d think the bass tone would suffer with such a thick guitar sound but it’s like my brain can completely separate the guitar and bass and hear them both perfectly. They sound amazing apart from each other but I just don’t know how they work together like that. But they DO!!! Yeah there has got to be AT LEADT 6 guitar tracks playing the same riffs. I think that’s were the secret sauce is, It’s in the individual mixes of the guitar layers.

This song gives me deep, almost painful sense of nostalgia…even back in high school when this first came out, those clean breaks gave me a profound sense of vast, urban nostalgia. To get music nerdy, those guitar octave stabs during the chorus really pile on the emotion…the first time it’s a 9th, the second time it’s a major 7th. That vague lack of resolution sends your brain into a spiral of bygone uncertainty.

@RatelHBadger11 ай бұрын
Dissonance my friend. Dissonance and syncopation. Moody and unresolved build means there's a longing to go "home" sonically, but as the song progresses you realise that the "home" you want to go back to, the clean predictable chorus, has changed and won't be the same, especially after that middle eight.
@manifestgtr11 ай бұрын
@@RatelHBadger It’s funny because they *technically* resolve it each time but it doesn’t feel that way. The vague, dissonant harmony is just SO prominent, it’s the part that draws you in. I think the fact that the resolution is obscured by different octaves helps that effect, too. The higher octave stuff just feels desperate…like it’s trying to tell a greater truth that the power chords won’t reveal…

It’s funny because everyone thinks their generation was the last great generation but the 90s truly was the last great decade. 9/11, the internet, politics etc. ruined it all. About to be 40 this year and still rock this one 🤘

I first saw this Video on a Southern California Christian TV Channel. The show was called G-Rock. It was a show my Brother and I watched religiously. It was a show with music videos and action sports; Like Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Bmx, etc. This video was always a pleasure to see. We'd Mosh, and sing along. Those memories are priceless. Thanks POD!

i only know three songs of P.O.D Youth of Nation Alive and Southtown. They earned the fame and wealth to live well-off. I personally thank the Atlanta Record to have audience get a chance to be exposed to maintain the glimpse of what Hybrid_Metal core CCM be like. Plus, again, the stage is the top of the game, folks hhhhh

I remember the night I first heard this song on the radio. The DJ announced, “New music from P.O.D...” and my excitement that a Christian band broke through and was being played on secular radio, I was thrilled! I was already familiar with their previous albums Snuff the Punk and BROWN, but this song gave me chills.

Life isn't about fitting in. It's about being yourself. The older I get the more I don't care what others think. I've always just been me, if they're cool with it we can be friends. If not, they can stay away and not bring me down.

Welcome to hard times Back again like it's never been for the first time It seem to mess with my head when I realize what it takes Can I relate with whatever but never will it drive me to hate Could be the next guy that you take before I wake Now I lay me down to sleep eyes tight when I pray this here is real life Circumstances make you think should I be counting my blessings The next second my eyes blink Here in the southtown You know that kids don't play Put it down in the streets, will I see another day If I make it back this time, got to hold what is mine And thank God that I made it alive Here in the southtown You know that kids don't play Put it down in the streets, will I see another day If I make it back this time, got to hold what is mine And thank God that I made it alive One love it's easier said than done Can I rise above anything that gets in my way Like words you say, you let your tongue get loose And when push comes to shove, I'm not used to walking away I keep on looking up, because these times are getting tough Tomorrow's gone and it's the same old song Father fill my cup, give me strength to power up A life to shine, you'r the diamond in this rough Here in the southtown You know that kids don't play Put it down in the streets, will I see another day If I make it back this time, got to hold what is mine And thank God that I made it alive Here in the southtown You know that kids don't play Put it down in the streets, will I see another day If I make it back this time, got to hold what is mine And thank God that I made it alive It ain't got to be like this Don't want to throw up my fist Don't want to be like this Don't want to throw up my fist I must resist, it ain't got to be like this I must resist, it ain't got to be like this I must resist, it ain't got to be like this I must resist, it ain't got to be like this Here in the southtown You know that kids don't play Put it down in the streets, will I see another day If I make it back this time, got to hold what is mine And thank God that I made it alive Here in the southtown You know that kids don't play Put it down in the streets, will I see another day If I make it back this time, got to hold what is mine And thank God that I made it alive Here in the southtown
