So nice to hear someone say that you don't need to apply Beadmaker heavy. That's exactly what I've been saying. I've done it both ways and I didn't see any noticeable differences.

Thanks so much for all the thorough testing. I was worried beadmaker was potentially masking the hydrophobic qualities of my coating but am feeling great knowing I can continue to use the product on a coated surface. Love the look and slickness.

Very good video! I have been trying out P&S Bead Maker for 1 month now and I’m not a huge fan. It seems to attract dust to the clear coat. I drive about 2 miles of gravel road everyday and if I strip Bead Maker my vehicle looks cleaner longer then if I have it on my vehicle. I’m wondering if you had any similar results? I’m curious to here your thoughts?

WaxMode I have diluted Megs HCW at 10 to 1 and spray it on after washing with Optimum No Rinse before drying the No Rinse. It works great. So far, my favorite combo has been Shine Armor Fortify Quick Coat for Shine. Locked in with Meguiars HCW. Then daily wipe offs with Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer. One of these days I’m going to try Beadmaker instead of the Optimum Instant Detailer. This gives me a superb shine and protection. I reapply the HCW every week or 2 so, I don’t give it a chance to let the protection fade off since it’s so easy to put on. Traditional waxing is over for me with these new spray on products being so good.

It might have gone past people's heads, but I like the fact that you are still testing DPC Armor not just on this video but on others as well. I think you respect Scott at DPC a lot and want to give his product a fair chance and you are trying to provide valuable feedback. Maybe the chemistry needs some tweaking idk. One of Adam's new ceramic infused items has about 10% sio2 similar to Armor. That would be a good comparison.. I would like to see Scott's Spray Wax tested too.

Tried using the CG Jetseal then used the P&S Beadmaker to remove/buff out the Jetseal residue (After the 20 mins it said on the bottle). The results were pretty awesome. Technically a double coat of sealant after a chemical and mechanical decontamination. Now I just use a drying agent (whatever is on sale) and the gloss is really good. Plus it dries really fast!

Absolutely love beadmaker!!! Great video.. it's very very interesting that different base layers and hydrophobic attributes of those base layers determine how the toppers will either hurt or maintain the performance.. you make some very very great observations man. Your learning Papasmurf very much!! Haha take care man. I'm gonna go watch some more of your vids😄👍
@WaxMode
@WaxMode 4 жыл бұрын
It's a crazy topic, trying to find the right base layer products that pair up nicely with the right toppers for the ultimate performance. Take Sonax Polymer Net Shield, it's crazy hydrophobic but not very slick, you'll have a lot of toppers that will improve slickness but destroy the hydrophobics. Brilliant Shine Detailer is the ideal topper as it maintains the hydrophobics, but doesn't help the slickness. It's a battle to try and find one that can improve both slickness and maintain hydrophobic performance! What's really interesting is coating testing, as many of the ones like Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light are designed to be paired with a secondary coating topper like EXO to provide both non-hydrophobic protection (CSL), and hydrophobic and self-cleaning performance (EXO). Same as with Gyeon Mohs with Gyeon Skin. These dual layer coating systems are much more expensive than something like CQUK 3.0, which performs excellently in both the protection and hydrophobic performance for a fraction of the price. But I'm not sure if CQUK has the same ultimate protective abilities as what's in CSL.

I use Beadmaker on top of my Kamikaze Miyabi ceramic coating. The gloss levels on my black Audi are off the charts! I have people stop and ask me what I use to get such a deep rich shine. I find that using Beadmaker as a drying aid after I do maintenance washes with Reset is a great combination. This also prevents water spots which is a concern in my area due to the hard water. Would like to see a comparison of Beadmaker versus The Last Coat. Keep the product reviews coming, I enjoy your channel.

I still need to get my hands on some of the Kamikaze coatings, Miyabi, ISM, still never picked up Over Coat as well. Always hear great results out of them, my problem is I buy most of my coatings when Autogeek or Autopia are running a 25% off sale. Esoteric I don't usually see them running sales often and I miss them when they do run a sale. I've done initial testing with The Last Coat, definitely more hydrophobic than Bead Maker in the short term but I need to free up space on the test car so I can run a durability test with it. I will have a video of it once I get more testing performed.

@WaxMode
@WaxMode 5 жыл бұрын
With Fusso Coat I never did a long term test with toppers applied to it. In the short term, Bead Maker affected its hydrophobicity slightly more than V7, but it was still performing aggressively with water with the two different toppers. I am going to be pulling Fusso out again to test any potential performance that it may have with regards to mechanical resistance or resistance against abrasives. I remember with Meguiar's Wash Plus, Fusso Coat was extremely resistant against it undiluted into the wash mitt compared to FK1000P which was knocked down after two applications of Wash Plus. So I will also try some different toppers to see if I find one that I like. I'm actually thinking that Hybrid Ceramic Wax could be a great topper for Fusso.

Zymol has some of the best post-application short term hydrophobics out of all their waxes compared to others, but that insane beading is pretty short lived in the actual durability tests, shifts over to pretty average repellency after a week or so.

Looking to see if you could recommend a couple waxes/sealants that have an incredibly slick feel to it, months after being aplied. I used a very old can of Mothers Pure Brazilian Carnauba Wax on 1 car and that has a very slick feel to it, vs Duragloss 105 on another car and that doesn't match the slickness of the Mothers. Is it most carnaba waxes are slicker vs synthetic waxes? The Bead Maker has slickness but doesn't last and doesn't bead up the water to well.
@WaxMode
@WaxMode 5 жыл бұрын
I always loved the level of slickness got out of the sealants like Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 and Jescar Powerlock Plus. Got great slickness results out of Poly Wax from Griot's recently as well. But in reality, insane slickness in general is a short lived concept in my experience and I attribute it to the hardwater that I'm working with when I wash and rinse the paint. All products will be different, I've actually never worked with the Mother's California Gold paste wax, but you'll find some carnauba based and synthetic based products that can have higher levels of slickness than others, just depends on the individual product.

That's very odd that Bea maker didn't bead alot. When I use it it's extremely hydrophobic after dry application. Did you apply it to the panel dry and wipe in and buff off? It acts completely different for me. Perplexing. Not the strongest thing out there but makes the paint slick as snot and for me beads like crazy for a while. Also bead make is only like $30 a gallon After initial dry full application you can use it like a drying aid to keep up the coating I don't plan on using beadmaker alone anyway but on that test panel I don't know how it acted like that. Who knows.

The one thing that I’m not sure about when you top Seal N Shine, is how the top layer impacts the oleophobic nature of Seal N Shine underneath. SNS should have a better self cleaning effect, when you top it with something that doesn’t have this property I think you end up losing a bonus to SNS’s performance. But I haven’t done much topping testing with SNS yet, and I’m away from all of my test material indefinitely at the moment for the last month.

I like PB Spray & Gloss, smells so good, I use it a lot around the house in the sinks and mirrors. I did test it side by side with Bead Maker on the test panel for slickness and did notice that Bead Maker edged it out slightly without any base products underneath. That's the thing about Bead Maker though, it's not like it's insanely slicker or glossier than everything else, I feel it does edge out most in slickness except in certain cases depending on the base. But the price and overall usability, its performance on my coatings, it's very difficult for me to not to recommend it as a standout in its category compared to a lot of other capable maintenance products, even though it lacks extreme hydrophobics that I'm obsessed with, but so does a lot of maintenance sprays.

Post application slickness is better with Bead Maker, and gloss numbers are higher because the residuals left behind by Seal N Shine take longer to buff off the surface, which is the main cause of the temporary lowering of gloss measurements. Seal N Shine is much more chemically resistant and should be more durable as well, and great price right now at stores.

You are not going to get good beading when when you flood the panel.
@WaxMode

The faster the water floods or sheets off of the surface, the tighter individual beading you’re going to notice compared to a less hydrophobic product. So compared to Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer, CarPro Reload, or Gyeon Cure that I used as examples, those are considerably more hydrophobic at there peak performance compared to both V7 and Bead Maker, tighter beading and faster water sheeting.

Beadmaker is a disappointing product. Not sure why so many hyped this useless sealant up at all. The original shine is decent but that goes away quickly.

Tundra Guy pretty weak as a stand-alone sealant but I do like it very much as a ceramic topper. Any recommendations on other products?

Does BM give a super shiny finish? YES Does BM give a super slick finish? YES Does BM protection last long? NO. But who cares. It goes on effortlessly. Is BM more affordable than some comparable spray sealants? YES. Which makes it a great bang for the buck. Where is the overhype?

theReal evo77 totally agree. The cost (gallon jug) is a big factor for me. If anyone has found anything that performs better at a similar or cheaper price I’m all ears. Personally beadmaker lasts a month for me over a ceramic coating.

Sheeting is what we advanced users are after anyway...

Why is sheeting more advanced?
@Sherukka

WaxMode Sheeting preserves the paint better than the water beads left on the panel that have no function at all and all they do is harm when they dry on the paint.
@WaxMode

@@Sherukka - Sheeting is a form of water repellency, and any surface that is repelling the water is capable of producing significant beading. The only way to combat beading is to flood the surface with enough water at one time so that no beading is left behind when it's pushed or pulled off the surface. The only way to flood the surface with enough volume of water to produce this effect, is for the user to get up close to the surface with a hose and spray the surface down. I can flood the beading off the paint just as easily with a high hydrophobic product compared to a less hydrophobic "sheeting" product, either with a shower/flood setting or if I remove the sprayer and flood water directly out of the hose. I'm in total control of forcing the flood onto the surface in these cases. But in a rainstorm, or random hard water sprinkler assault, beading is always left behind because during a heavy rainstorm or sprinkler assault, these sources of water are still not dumping enough volume of water on the paint at one time to nicely pull all of the water cleanly off the surface for you. Water sheeting is a controlled behavior that can be applied to both less hydrophobic and high hydrophobic surfaces.

@@WaxMode Some good discussion going on here! I'm not completely agreeing with you on this, I think there surely are products that are more sheeting in rainstorms etc. You might be right though that the difference isn't huge but still there is one? Keep up the good work! :)

@Gnet Bird - We're all reviewing the same product, it makes sense that the facts and features of it are repeated in the reviews of different channels, just read the back directions of the bottle. It doesn't mean that any of us have been paid by Meguiar's to post a review of the product. I knew that HCW was going to be popular when they announced it and I purchased my bottle as soon as it was in stock. Your continued claims that I am fraudulent or that I am a paid shill are absolutely ridiculous, I'm going to review and test the products that I'm interested in, or products that my subscribers have requested that I test. Period.
