I am a weekly user of Bead Maker as the car is parked outside 24/7. My car is coated with Optimum Opti-Coat Pro+, and I use Optimum Hyper Seal as a top coat which is applied every 3-4 months when a maintenance wash is done. Bead Maker was not designed as a top coating, and most people know it will only last around 2-3 weeks if the car is outside most of the time. The reason I can use Bead Maker as a weekly top up is because of the cost, it is a third to half the cost of the brands used in the video. And that was the main thing I found missing from the video, was the related cost between products in regards to performance. I appreciate immensely the time taken by yourself to prepare the panels, testing of the panel, the editing of the video between cameras you may have been using, to present a great video. Well done.

I would have never believed it until I saw your video. It may feel slick to the touch but water and contaminants evidently hold different properties than our skin. I had seen so many videos of it beading on a flat surface that this literally burst my bubble that contained my thoughts on bead maker. Originally I was looking for videos to support my intent to purchase a few gallons. It was so inexpensive and so many detailing pros were praising it. I think I will look at it as a quick detailer for gloss and slickness but that's it, and after this video I wouldn't promote to anyone. Thanks for putting this together. I live in southern California and earlier this year it rained like crazy and water was still beading and flying off the paint/glass after several weeks from initial application of beadmaker. I've had good results in my experience w/ gloss/shine, and slickness. Although, longevity is not a strong characteristic, I apply after each wash as a drying aid so it's not a concern. For me it works and align with my expectations. At 18:47 IMO the side you applied beadmaker had a haze vs the other side, which did not have a very noticeable haze prior to applying. . May be it was just the angle.

Great review Sandro. I purchased Beadmaker before watching this. When it was delivered and after seeing your results I really hesitated in trying it. In the end I gave it a try. I purchased it for use as a detailer/topper. My car is a dark grey metallic and has Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic wax applied. I do not argue with your results, you are a professional and performed far greater tests than a hobbyist like myself. However I wanted to share my experience. As a topper Beadmaker added a noticeable pop to the paint. I compared panels topped with Beadmaker vs panels topped with Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic detailer and the Beadmaker panels looked better, catching more reflections and adding depth. In my experience Beadmakers hydrophobic performance is worse than Hybrid Ceramic wax and NXT sealant. I can’t tell yet whether using it as a topper has any negative effect to the underlying paint protection. It strongly attracts dust to the paint. More so than any product I have used. However, after it cures this effect seems less pronounced. Thanks again for the great content, really appreciate your method.

I'm still thinking of ordering it soon mainly for gloss, and they made a video saying if you have dust to use the purple one they have I think it's called paint gloss or something like that since it has like a negative charge or something like that it should help reduce the amount of dust your car gets

This is VERY interesting lol I've been using bead maker for about 2 years, and it works great for me! I use it as a stand alone, and I get great water beading! Beautiful ones! And it's instant, I don't get the slow sheeting seen here.. and I also use it as a topper to a ceramic coating, and again, just the same! I know longevity isn't all there.. but for me, non garaged, I still get solid water beading for maybe 2 months.. thats actually the longest I've gone without a car wash, so I can't say from experience how long it'll last on its own. But I typically wash every week or every weeks at the latest. Just baffles me though, because I really get great results. Great beading, gloss, slickness, deepens the paint color for me. Just recently I've used Optimums Opti Seal, I used turtle wax Ceramic spray coating, and when I used bead maker.. it gave me the perfect, deep and rich color I hadn't seen for the prior products. And it's cheaply priced! I'm actually really happy with bead maker.. but I guess we all get different results. I don't blame him though.. if I got the same results he did here in this video, I wouldn't want it either lol

The 1st time he tried it out he was having issues with it and ended up having to use a ton of product. Obviously the other products perform better, but their prices are also equally insane. I don't think we can get Nova products here in the US, so I'll probably try out some BeadMaker first just because it's so dang cheap here in the US.

Greats review! Lucky I have not put my money for one yet. Water behavior was a bit disappointing and they don’t really last long but it’s slick shine for sure.. I found carpro ech2o mix with reload work much better and cheaper as top coat or drying aid after wash.
@mpoppe5 жыл бұрын
@kenocucum I also use this recipe(2 oz of CarPro Reload, 2 oz of CarPro ECH2O and 20 oz of distilled water). It is excellent ! But the effects of these products (BM, Reload, C2 ...) when applied in a good ceramic coating always seems the same to me. An increase in brightness and a smooth surface. For the detailing who likes to always be with the car clean and bright, they serve well. No surface is left free of dirt or grit after a week of outdoor use. Maybe someday there will really come a miracle product. For now, the industry will produce dreams..

Maybe a bit late but do you have any further experiences with bead maker over ceramic coatings? Do you recommend using it as a drying aid on coated cars or will it negate the properties? And will they regain their properties once bead maker wears off?

For the same price, you can buy a 5L Repco Eclipse Ceramic Polish, its base on SiO2, it will perform much better.

Thank you! I had ordered a gallon of Bead Maker just prior to viewing this video. Fortunately, I was able to cancel the order before it shipped. Apparently, Bead Maker is just a quick detailer that feels slick but doesn’t bead well or protect well and if it masks or diminishes beading, why even use it as a drying aid? Are the Concours Nova products sold in the US?

Curious. What type of ceramic coating was used and how long was the cure time for beadmaker in that test? This could be a case of them not working well together
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Being that the video is almost 2yrs old it’s honestly hard to remember so I’d just be guessing at this point about those questions, but it may have been CQUK by memory and 1-2 days cure of the top coats, and yes sometimes certain products don’t mess well together but I tried to include lots of different tests that hopefully give a more well rounded look at the product.

Great testing Sandro, always professional quality. You may have listed, but what coating were you working with as your base for the toppers? I've had surprisingly good results on the CarPro and Gyeon coatings after topping with Bead Maker in terms of it not negatively impacting the water behavior, but I had started topping late term mainly after 6-9 months of them being on the paint without previous toppers. Love those test panels you're working with, wish I could get my hands on that type to run more tests at the same time!

Excellent video Sandro! You nailed it again. I have been testing BeadMaker for past month on 2 black cars. Well I can honestly say I am disappointed in its overall performance. KZbin reviews have over hyped this product for the past 6 months like it is the second coming of Jesus. Yes its is very slick once applied and car's gloss and shine is amazing for sure! But its durability and water beading is a total let down after a week or so or after heavy rains etc. So yes you have a nice quick detailer that does not bead water so after I am finished with my gallon its off to find a better product in this category. Hats off to the marketing genius that hyped this product. What's the long term success of this product and what's the next over hyped car detailing product?

what would you say is a more budget-friendly ceramic coating topper that's easy to use/no streaks? (not bead maker as you showed it really masks the water behavior)

Paint coatings, be they waxes, synthetic sealants, ceramic coatings, etc., Have 2 really important characteristics for most people that are not necessarily tied together. The 1st is protection. How well do they protect the underlying paint and for how long, and against what threats (chemical, Sun, rain, etc)? The 2nd is looks enhancement. How much better does the vehicle look after you apply the product? I think these factors get jumbled together and confused all the time and are rarely separated out and measured/evaluate. Part of the reason Bead Maker is popular seems to be looks enhancement, not its protection capabilities. Most people seem to agree it doesn't last long and "attracts dust." How well it protects and for how long are secondary for them. What people use is really driven by what they value the most even if they don't realize the tradeoffs they are sometimes making. BTW Sandro, Bead Maker is said by all its advocates to take 24 hours to reach its peak gloss. I've seen many videos that seem to confirm that.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing My comment was more a general observation and not intended as a criticism. Sometimes people forget there are 2 main criteria when choosing these products and they are not necessarily correlated. Sometimes the best products for paint enhancement have poor longevity and products with great longevity may not provide great enhancement. Bead Maker ppl generally choose it for the way it makes their cars look rather than how well it protects or how long it lasts. I myself don't use it but understand why so many ppl swear by it.

Hey Sandro! I was definitely one of them who wanted a review of this product(BM) from you. I was not impressed with their claims from the beginning, yet was hoping I wasn’t missing out on a great product. Now I’m convinced my initial concerns have been validated. What is extremely noticeable to me is that BM can be removed/or reduced very easily with water. I believe if you would have sprayed water continually on BM for 5 minutes straight it would have disappeared. 🤷🏽♂️ “Another One”....Great video that is! Thanks! P.S. Boy do I agree on the amount used. It didnt take long to figure out you use it just like a detailer and ignore those trying to get you to buy it like its lemonade. I live in the south of the US, in a high pollen area, and I notice beadmaker seems to attract and hold pollen on the surface

I have no idea how it’s gotten so much hype. I’m glad to see proper detailers with channels finally show this instead of all the glorified car washing channels hyping something with no experience to back their claims. Good job, man!

I’d rather have water sheeting than a bunch of beads. Sheeting of the Bead maker on the ceramic coating is actually more desirable as its sheeting ALL the water away rather than beading up and staying there like the other surfaces. Eater beading isn’t always the best thing. Especially if your car is outside, it gets rained on, and then the water beads collect dust and grime and then drys on your paint.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Well that’s a personal thing that’s fine to desire based on your needs or wants, it’s really your choice. But do you think that maybe just maybe BEAD Maker isn’t the best name for it and maybe it’s quite misleading as to what the user would expect to see … aka water Beads! It also doesn’t change the fact that it’s durability is extremely underwhelming as it’s ability to improve the look of the paint. I tried to be really fair but apart from an easy application and great slickness, there’s just nothing there.

Car Craft Auto Detailing your review is spot on with what I’ve been seeing with the 6 months plus using it on my 3 vehicles.. and I will leave it there because it does have great use on some applications, just not on my car perfected with UK3.0. Where does Elixir fit in this mix? Nova Boost seems to be exactly what I’m looking for but can’t find it in the US.
@kanshou3 жыл бұрын
Problem is Nova is hard to find in the US. I use bead maker as a drying aid since my washing setup is not the greatest and it prevents water spots. It looks like Reload is close enough to Jet and the best product is one you can actually buy.
