Love the vid. I have always taught (and practiced - a Decade on SWAT, 20+ years as a firearms instuctor) that IF you are drawing/holding/gripping/manipulating that pistol... the trigger finger, when NOT on the trigger, should never come off that frame. SO... in that mindset.... I use the firing hand's middle finger to fiddle with the light's controls if I'm not using the support hand thumb. But the only thing a trigger finger is for... is the trigger. Most of the time, if I'm not backlighting someone or needing some type of light discipline, I throw that light ON when establishing my grip with my support hand. It's a grip establishment technique and requires a bit of practice... but I prefer it. YMMV.

I'm surprised trigger finger activation is not more commonly taught. Like you said, with the index finger, you can have the light on before your support hand even reaches the grip. It just makes more sense, and its what I taught myself before I even realized that some people do it differently.

My problem is when using it with the shield and I need to turn the light off on the SF. The light is pretty stiff and I have a hard time turning it off with primary hand. Any ideas?

This might sound silly, but what do you use to keep the lense clear on your weapon like? I notice haze building up simular to vehicle headlights on mine.

Not silly at all. I use a wd40 pen

Bill, something as a Patrolman I got for my TLR-1s was the remote contour switch. Had to slightly modify the duty holster to allow it to fit but it's extremely convenient for activating the light just by getting a fire grip on the weapon and then simply tightening or relaxing the middle finger to activate it momentary if needed. Again, though I'm not hunting guys under NVG's like you may be but it works for me considering I mainly work night-shifts. Allows me to also ditch my flashlight if needed and still put light on a target quickly for shots and with two hands.

IMO, the first method is the most practical. It's the only one that can be performed without the support hand, which may be injured or doing something else.

I've seen some guys say the Streamlight is harder to avoid having light NDs with, and that often it'll be unintentionally coming on for guys under recoil. Anyone here feel that to be the case and how easy is to mitigate?
