Ingredients
Dry fried Moong dal ¾ cup
Wash moong dal
Water 2 cups
Cook for 1 whistle
Grated coconut 1½ cup
Luke warm water ½ cup
Onnaam Pal
Take Randaam Paal also by adding 1 cup warm water
Jaggery 5 pieces
Water 1 cup
Let it dissolve
Strain jaggery syrup & pour to cooked dal
Let it boil and thicken
Add Randaam paal
Let it boil for a while
Add Onnam pal
Give it a stir & Switch off the stove
Cardamom powder 1 tsp
Salt ¼ tsp
Mix well
Keep it closed for some time and then serve
When it cools, it becomes a little thick and you can serve it now
Tips
Buy Peeled Moong Dal. Dry fry it. Add sufficient water and cook.
After pouring jaggery syrup, boil till it almost evaporate.Stir occasionally.
Pour some hot water in the coconut and grind it and then squeeze out the milk(onnam paal)
Pour some hot water in to the squeezed coconut, grind and then squeeze the second milk(randaam paal)
After pouring Randaam Paal, boil well.
Do not boil after pouring the first milk.
Payasam should be of a loose consistency as it will thicken on cooling
