P09 C Nocturne: Locking back with round in mag on JHP?!

I've heard of several reports from views as well as on KZbin of P09 C's locking back leaving a round in the mag mostly on JHP carry ammo. I drove back out and tested this as well. How did it go?

Absolutely…you do you! Nobody appreciates folk being someone they’re not. Honesty is surely appreciated when looking for product information. The videos showing issues and info on my channel have been some of the most appreciated. Might want to re-think Patreon…. They’re pretty anti-gun and folk have had their accounts cancelled. Not sure what the alternative is. I never started a Patreon fo4 channel support, but I support some channels over there. I have a hard time with my high thumbs grip with no hitting the slide stop on a number of pistols. The PSA Dagger has been one of those pistols. I’ve not had malfunctions, but it will fail to lock back on the last round fairly regularly. I even swapped the slide stop for an OEM Glock one just to be sure. The wife and I also live here in NC. Sucks to have camera issues, but it happens. Anyways, thanks for continued testing these new CZ pistols. Looking forward to getting mine on Monday. Still need to figure out what optic I’m gonna run.

I have my Nocturne for about 1 month. I've shot several magazines of AAC 124 grain ammo though it. I've had zero malfunctions and zero problems. Did I get lucky or am I the norm?

At this point, I have put 1,020 rounds through my P-09 C and had just one misfeed and that was my fault not making sure the mag was seated well. At least that is what I think the problem was. Other than that it has been flawless.

Check the extractor pin height under the optic. Mine was not fully seated and the optic was pushing down on it.

Thanks for the video, perfect as always! I fired another 50 rounds from the P09c and once the slide was left to the rear and one more round in the magazine. The same thing is solved on Reddit, with the last cartridge in the magazine, the feeder is already slightly pressing the catch of the slide. Is it the same with the P07? I ask because you are the only one who has all these pistols available and is willing to hear feedback from the comments and verify everything in person, thank you.

I’m not going to do anymore videos on this one unless something breaks but I can tell you from having just checked that I don’t see the magazine follower (it that’s what you mean by feeder) anywhere near the slide catch with one left in the mag. I’ve heard people say this and I hand racked rounds both with the P07/P09 unable to duplicate this potential issue. Heck something might have gotten off and a couple hundred or even thousand got past before they realized it and they will have to fix them idk but mine have functioned like my original P09/P07 without issue

Took my new P-09 C Nocturne to the range for its maiden voyage. No issues with Blazer 115 gr and 124 gr range ammo. Had one FTF when I switched to some Hornady Critical Defense hollow point. The round got jammed pretty tight. Had a heck of a time clearing the gun. No issues after that. Need to send several hundred more down range before I can trust as an EDC. No lock back issues.

I’ve had that happened to me two on some of my guns with the Hornady ammo. that’s why I don’t use the Hornady ammunition. I use the HST ammunition. thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if not already.

i also had this issue, but I figured out that the snappy nature of the gun made my hand ride up on the slide lock. I switched back-straps to the next size up, which will fix the issue.

I have not had this issue at all with mine not sure if you was able to watch the entire video but I had no issues and I’m at almost 1000 rds different types of ammunition and using a different barrel and magazine from the original PO seven still not able to duplicate or show any problems. Yeah i had one nose dive on feed ramp with hp. Another strange malfunction were the spent casing stuck on the extractor. Since then ive went through 300 ish without any problem. I trust it just like my p07 .carry it everyday now. Thanks for the time and money you and your wife put it this. I 100 percent believe in god for many reasons, one is he made CZ.

If I had a garage storage hack KZbin channel with the views that I get every month with this gun channel, I would be making about $2500-$3000 in revenue from KZbin alone but last month KZbin deposited $722 into my account, and I promise you, bro, that does not even scratch the surface of what it cost me to do these videos. As a successful businessman it is extremely difficult for me to continue to keep doing this and losing money doing so. I kind of have to have the mindset of well I would be shooting anyway, but the reality is I would not be shooting this much and I certainly would not be buying this many guns, so I am desperately trying to find other sources of revenue because I’m never going to get it from KZbin. Whether that be free guns, free optics, free gear and of course People’s support through Patreon, which is the only external source I can use at the moment. Right now I only have a five dollar a month option but I do plan to add, a $10 and I think I’m going to start uploading videos three or four or maybe even five days in advance on Patreon so that the $10 a month supporters can see the video first if that makes sense. I have just got to find a way at the very least to break even And support my habit because the reality is just like the Average Marksman said I’m never going to be in the red doing this so I’m stuck somewhere between a labor of love and trying to make a dollar if that makes sense lol

Yeah, I like him and he isn’t very far from where I’m at in fact we have shared the same range before but I personally am not OK with that. I’m just not. Because what that means is that you are likely bought and paid for or at least you want to be. As in you believe if you post something negative about a particular brand, they will never send you something for free, which is the reason I started this KZbin channel to start with. I will never be bought and paid for and if a gun is bad I’m going to say as much the final straw for me was when he put up a video about the S&W believe it was the 2.0 carry comp, and was going on about how great the trigger was when that pistol has one of the worst triggers if not, the absolute worst trigger of any gun I have ever shot and everyone that I have spoken to that has has been in agreement with that and even if you don’t think it’s bad it’s certainly not great But I also know that every gun he reviews from Smith given to him by Smith and to me that’s just heartbreaking because people who may spin their entire paycheck to buy the best firearm to defend themselves trust in these KZbinrs sometimes a little bit too much and it said that they may spend the money Their blood sweat and tears paid for and get a bad gun all because they trusted someone who was getting one for free. Because essentially those guns are revenue. If he gets a free gun or anybody on KZbin gets a free gun they get to shoot it a couple of times do a review and in the case of him get free ammo to do so And then turn around and sell it in the case of the 2.0 for save $500 because it’s a $800 pistol and that’s $500 clean clear cash in his pocket. One just don’t care how much someone loves a particular KZbinr if he is not being honest or refusing to review a firearm Because he wants to get free stuff from them or money from them then he’s helping no one but himself

Just got my P09C today and put ~250rds on it. First was 1 box of Remington 115gr, 1 failure to feed. Then, 2nd box was Sellier and Bellot 124gr, no issues. last 150 rds was random brass reloads with 1 failure to feed. 2 failures is pretty normal in my experience with cz's (shadow 2 and P10 F Comp) which I found i always got less than 5 failures in my first 500 rds of a new cz gun. Shot with no dot or light, but have since went home and put on a holosun eps (with the freedom gorrila short screws) and a tlr7x.

@@GSquaredTactical to be fair, after break in period of 500rds I haven’t seen any failures on my shadow 2 or p10 f comp. Each easily have over 2000rds on them each, probably same amount of dry fires as well. Hoping to see the same with the P09C.

Went to range yesterday with my daughter and son in law with brand new P-09C. Had Holosun EPS and light installed on it with 500 rounds of Speer Lawman FMJ. This gun is for my daughter for her home protection and being born in Czechoslovakia I'm very familiar with CZ and the stellar reliability. Ironically, I did my research and as usual I started seeing the negative reviews after the gun was on its way. So, the very first magazine was inserted in the gun and the slide racked back and after letting go the slide it got stuck midway to battery. Slight movement of the slide back solved the problem. Then repeatedly there was over and over the slide locking back with ammo still in the magazine. Sometimes slight tap on the slide solved the problem and sometimes the slide had to be moved 1-2 mm to the rear and then it went to battery. We removed the optic first as I was aware of the long screws video. No change. Then we removed the light because of the the frame twisting video and still the problem continued. We oiled the gun, wiped it dry, racked the slide a thousand times, no help. We ended up shooting around 250 rounds, but it was frustrating, so we went home. Totally lost faith in this gun. I will call CZ tomorrow and see what I have to do to return it. I will then get my daughter Sig P229 as that is old but excellent gun and I know it will be reliable.

Make sure the extractor pin isn’t sticking up under the optic mount. It should be flush. Mine came so bad the optic wouldn’t set perfectly flat, I’m theorizing that pressure on that pin will cause it to bind and stiffen the extractor.

I mean, thanks be to God only I have spent the last 13 years building a very successful business which allows me to do this, but at the same time, God asked me to be a frugal person with what he has given me and if I continue to keep spending 10 times really more of what I take in every month I’m going to have to give it up because even though I do it mostly because it is a labor of love and I enjoy interacting with people all over the world and knowing that I could help them, and in some cases even brighten their day it really starts to be draining financially and I have got to find ways outside of KZbin to make money. So all I can do is ask just like the Bible says ask, seek and knock. so I ask every video for people support and eventually I hope to get up a $10 tier
