In the Netherlands, we always have the "Top 2000" at the end of the year. It's an annual marathon radio program (first aired in 1999), that plays the 2000 most popular songs of all time. When it is almost midnight on December 31st, number #1 will be played. Bohemian Rhapsody has always been #1 or #2, which is for 20 years in a row now!

At 61 I've only fleeting memories of my school-days but I'll ALWAYS remember the effect this song had on me and the rest of my school !. Everyone listened to 'Radio Luxembourg' in those days and the first time 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was played was a Tuesday-night, I remember that as the 1st class on the Wednesday was Physics (with Mr Stewart) and for a change, EVERYONE was buzzing (Physics was not one of the more popular classes !!) as all the talk was 'Did you hear Queens new single last night ??'. It was such a monumental occasion as no-one had heard anything like it before (or since !!) and the entire day the sole topic of conversation was all about Queen !. I eventually managed to see them at the 'Playhouse' in Edinburgh (I've still got the ticket - £6 !!) and it's STILL one of the highlights of my life !
