I need some advice on re-rooting an el choco red chonk. Can you cut up a chonk and get several plants?
@PlantFriendDownTheStreet3 жыл бұрын
We talk more about choco prop in an upcoming episode. You *can* sometimes get multiple plants out of one chunk, but you increase your chances of getting any plants by leaving the chunk whole and then cutting it AFTER it starts to bud. I find that the most active buds tend to be clustered around the newest nodes at the top of the chunk. I cut the chunks off the plant and then stick them in moss and put them in my grow tent. I just cut a big one in half after it sent out multiple buds. I’m planning to upload a Choco prop video on my channel in the next few weeks so let me know if there are specific questions you have. 🪴❤️

@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet I currently have my chonk in a mixture of perlite and spaghnum moss in a net pot, sitting in a cache pot (with a little water at bottom) and all in a ziploc bag for lots of humidity. You recommend I do something different?
@PlantFriendDownTheStreet3 жыл бұрын
@@lorirader7075 that should be fine as long as you put the bag in a nice bright spot. Fingers crossed you see results soon! Sometimes it can take a long time for some of them to wake up but eventually most of them do.

@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet Oh yes, it's under a grow light.

@@lorirader7075 you should be good then. Just make sure to open the bag every day or so to let in some air 👍🏻

I'm really enjoying this new series and thanks for introducing me to Darylen! I've subscribed to her page. Question for Darylen - I saw in another comment that you said not to put an Anthurium Gracile in leca, can you explain please? Thanks!!
@PlantFriendDownTheStreet3 жыл бұрын
Hi Robin! So nice to meet you and thank you for subscribing! I didn’t put the anthurium gracile in LECA, sorry! I think I was talking about the philodendron majestic 🤣. I did put my gracile into pon but I’m not too sure it’s doing anything at this point. You may be seeing that again soon if I ever make it back out to my greenhouse.
@robinjennings11163 жыл бұрын
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet Thanks for the reply. I asked because I'm thinking of putting mine in leca and wanted to check before I did so. I'll be watching to see if you ever make it to the greenhouse ;)

@@robinjennings1116 awesome! I personally haven’t put any anthurium into LECA but I do keep them all in pon! I know some people do have a lot of success with their anthurium in LECA though. I’m tentatively going to deliver some plants to the greenhouse this week so it may be making an appearance sometime soon 🤞🏻
