Been a little while since I did a 350Z tech video of any kind.... but hey, it seems to break more than the VWs do these days. This 15 year old car vs 50 year old cars.... What's your feelings on that?
@martinharris50173 жыл бұрын
I reckon very few of these newer cars will be around in 50 years time. They are nice to drive and reliable for a few years, but tricky to diagnose and repair (except for The Duckman maybe!). Then again, my eldest son (age 14) is as passionate about cars like your 350Z as I am about VWs, and is learning how to maintain and modify them, so maybe a whole new generation will treat these Imports with the same care we oldies do with our classics? As for EVs...nah.
@100Jeanluc3 жыл бұрын
With so much tech these days, there is so much more to go wrong. I think that is why older cars are becoming more popular. Less to go wrong, easier to repair/diagnose, and in most cases cheaper too. Only problem is availability of spare parts.
@martinharris50173 жыл бұрын
@@100Jeanluc Spare parts may be an issue with some older cars, but certainly not classic VWs: The aftermarket VW parts business seems to be thriving and at least here in New Zealand, is growing. The value of older VWs is also rising they are now quite an investment.

Ensure the new rubber stop is indeed high enough to prevent the pedal from extending beyond its effective range.... that small amount is ridiculous, but enough to affect operation. So I'm having the p1122 and p1126 codes. Hearing this is the throttle body itself. Anyone else have an idea? I'll buy it if that's the problem.

Get a used one from junkyard, save some money. Maybe you'll get lucky!

@@DuckmanCycles I did.. Same issue still. Same codes. Took ipdm apart and it looked good too. Guessing it's a wiring issue

@@mamunbaser8683 car is still sitting there. I work so much I have no time. Just last week I pulled the fuel pump and my fuel is red and rusted. Almost looks like someone put something in it. So my current project is cleaning the tank.

Spent $70 at the u pull it, for a new throttle body only to find this after it didn't work. But I know better and should have done more diagnostic tests. Less learned don't be a parts changer.

Save that old part though, and fix it. Someday one of them is gonna go kablooey! 😁👍🦆💩

@@DuckmanCycles yup not even worth trying to sell it at this point. Most I could get out of it is an exchange for some other parts.

@@g.wes.3906 I'd stick it in one of the cavities around the spare tire and know its ready to go for next time! :)

It would drive me crazy until I 3D printed a new button... then I would probably leave it in the glovebox for the next 10 years...

I have considered printing one, but I think 3-D print it would probably Or fall apart kind of easy. Not likely to last anywhere as near as long, but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t print out a whole bunch of them.

Such a stupid design fault & for people who are not mechanically minded would take it to a garage & end up with a big bill as they would i guess replace the whole throttle pedal without finding a cheaper method of repair, hope you are doing good Glen

Thank you! And yes I am doing great!

I wonder who was the effing genius, that decided: Hmm throttle cable, is literally perfection. I know! Let’s digitize it, put an extra pos sensor that is prone to breaking, and turn an organic driving experience into one that resembles a video game. Automotive engineers need to be fired and replaced by experienced mechanics.

Hahaha! I just had that drive-by-wire conversation with somebody else on Twitter yesterday. The computer is what controls the car, you can only influence the computer, you really don't have any control. Some systems are pretty bad and have a very noticeable lag that creates a horrible Driving Experience. My Z does this too, but thankfully not as bad as others, and much better when traction control is off. I'll keep the throttle cable on my VWs!

@@DuckmanCycles I have 5 vehicles, Honda Prelude Sh, s13 and s14 with sr20 and 1jz in various stages of disrepair, this 2003 350z and 03 Ram hemi. Throttle response on the Honda is literally perfection. Why would any genius mess with that? The sr20 is pretty darn good, but the turbo lag can dampen things a bit sometimes.
