Killing absolutely will not be treated as any other major sin! here is what prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said in this regard: "Whoever killed a Mu'ahid (a non-Muslim who is granted the pledge of protection by the Muslims) shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise though its fragrance can be smelt at a distance of forty years (of traveling).” Sahih Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 83, Hadith 49 And in Quran: "if anyone slays a human being - unless it be [in punishment] for murder or for spreading corruption on earth - it shall be as though he had slain all mankind; and, if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind. " Quran (5:32) "And whoever kills a believer intentionally - his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a great punishment."
