@@KARMAkazeMoto Hi, I am in the UK - Norfolk. Very rural with narrow lanes and a lot of mud on the roads from big farm machinery. A fair number of what are called green lanes in the UK as well. Once out of Norfolk most of the UK is crowded with heavy traffic and a lot of freeways. to do a long journey, say to Scotland - 500 miles - would mean either a lot of freeway slog or a longer trip using byways.
@steveebee5084
@steveebee5084 6 жыл бұрын
use byways take your time freeway sucks - I am from Yorkshire speaking US dunno why
@KARMAkazeMoto
@KARMAkazeMoto 6 жыл бұрын
Are you thinking the Himalayan would do the trick there after watching my video? Sounds to me like it might do the trick, especially if the freeway speeds are not too fast.
@13thearl
@13thearl 6 жыл бұрын
@@KARMAkazeMoto The problem with UK freeways is they are only two or three lane and the traffic load is always at capacity - bumper to bumper in three lanes. This would not be so bad but the standard of driving has plummeted in recent years from poor to appalling, largely because we no longer have many traffic police to enforce the highway code. Consequently I am not happy on the freeway with anything that cannot get out of trouble in an instant - my Tiger 1050 does this so a Himalayan would be strictly for off road or minor roads. It looks to be perfect for that - only questions are build quality and reliability.

Brilliant easy to ride bike, really relaxing, i arrived at the Motorcycle Center in Clifton Street Belfast which is a Royal Enfield Dealership around 9.45am, took their test bike out for a ride which has around 5000 miles on the clock, drove from the shop along the Antrim road to Glengormley, then on to Templepatrick and then to the International Airport, headed back via Nutts Corner, Belfast Road, Upper Crumlin Road, then down the Shankill Road, onto Peters hill, then turned right which took me back to the shop, there was a fine drizzle of rain , the Himalayan handled great, top speed was 75 up to 80 MPH, great into the corners, i then decided to do a deal and trade-in my BMW R1100S, i also drive a Vespa 300 GTS ABS Super Sport, i had not been using the BMW much but that Himalayan put a smile on my face, brilliant relaxing bike, thanks for your reply and interest, i should have my new white ABS Himalayan this week, hopefully some day i will do a video, i often watch that trip you put on KZbin when you got your bike, AWESOME and thanks again, Paul in Belfast.

To all the people who like bikes and particularly higher power bikes, would you like this or any other royal Enfield for what they are?.. No, you won't.. But you would love them.. These bike have a nice understatement to it on a very personal level.. They maintain a level of modesty, something that will never be striking, because its a relationship between the man and the machine.. You will use it and you will depend on it, its all about the journey as far as this bike is concerned, not the destination..

So glad you liked it that much, and the scenery. I'm my own worst critic, so It's great to get good feedback. About that 650, I'm aware it is expected to be a twin. I think someone was just asking me if I'd prefer a twin or single. And I must say, I'm liking the whole thumper thing. Has a good feel. But if I get a chance to ride or own a 650 twin, I WILL BE ECSTATIC! The extra horsepower will be put to use. 😀

MANIFICENT!!! I lived in Anchorage for 5 years, when I saw the Glen Highway and the Matanuska Glacier, my heart left Austin tx and went back to the last frontier, I would love to see Portage Glacier on your vids, I bought a ST1300 for the sole purpose of riding from my daughters home in Seattle to Fairbanks,, its going to happen soon, I remembered the Glen HYW once you got there, I spent a lot of time with my wonderful father traveling up and down that highway, it made me tear up... I may be a Texas boy but my heart never left Alaska.... Thank you Justin for this film, and enjoy your Himalayan and keep the rubber side down, hey maybe ill see you when im there and we can have a chat and you could show me around...

More than happy to link up with anybody if the timing is right. Can grab a beer or coffee or whatever. Probably the best bet to reach out for something like that is messaging me direct through instagram, if you have the Instagram app. I rarely miss video comments, but it's possible. Instagram is a little better for direct communication. Wishing you all the best to make this trip happen, and thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like good memories.

Thanks so much! Yup, I had to do a lot of learning about getting the talking and music just right. I know some devices such as TV or headphones do put more emphasis on music, and that causes issues out of my control, but for the first few videos I was not doing a great job of leveling the sounds to begin with. Thanks for hanging in there to get through the series. Glad you enjoyed it! 😁

You should use whatever engine oil that doesn't have friction reducers or the clutch won't grab properly. Most semi synthetic oil and regular conventional oil don't have it.

Fore sure there will be more adventures in AK with the Himalayan. And I've been thinking about doing a little something with unused footage good idea. Sort of a "cutting room floor" piece. Or maybe section of nice road that I split could be posted as is for the people like just like to watch the ride clean through. We'll see.
