Maybe you could help me, I'm new to gardening. Everything I've seen says to wait for the vines to die. But, I've also seen where it says russets grow mature in 8 to 12 weeks. My vines are still going good and they have been growing 15 weeks. I'm starting to wonder if I should pull them before the potatoes rot??? Or should I keep waiting? I appreciate any advice

@sandysmith85673 ай бұрын
I've mostly waited till the vines are at least partially died back. I only dug them earlier if getting excess rain to avoid them rotting. You might gently dig up under a plant to see what's going on, but as long as the plants are green and you're watering when needed, they may be fine for awhile.

I recently canned potatoes using 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp of citric acid in each quart. I opened up two quarts, rinsed them and boiled. After mashing they had a weird funky taste that was almost unbearable to eat the rest. Any idea on the cause or should I have rinsed more or cooked longer?
