PA Spring Early Season Trout Fishing! GIANT Palomino and Brown Trout

PA Spring trout fishing during the PA regional youth mentored day. I slayed the fish, catching 35 trout! My catches ranged from 9 inches to 20 inches and brook, brown and rainbow trout. Cooper took the grand prize today catching a 20 inch brown and a 21 inch palomino or golden rainbow trout.

hey man I'm heading to pa in the spring to visit some family right about the time of trout opener, any suggestions on location access to streams with palomino in them? I was told to try Mahoning creek but I'm not sure where to even start

Is your family near Mahoning creek? If you’re able to, go south to the little Lehigh creek in Allentown. They put a ton of golden rainbows in. But the opener (Regional) is two weeks earlier than the mahoning valley opener (statewide)

Technically what he caught was a Golden Rainbow trout, since PA's boat and game only stocks Golden Rainbows, but the ponds at the private fisheries are stocked with palomino. And yes, they are somewhat common. Not common enough that you can catch a bunch, but I always see a bunch in every creek. Cooper has caught one every year for 4 years now. He caught 2 last year. He's just lucky lol. Thanks for watching.

youth mentored , i pictured father taking toddlers with zebcos and bobbers , oh well cant say they arent put in to be raped and pillaged for two months year, better hurry up and move my 20 , 20 inch plus breeder trout outta of harms way , to unstocked waters where they live for years getting fat on suckers , and creek chubs , and sculpins amazing how long dumb truck trout can actually lived if handeled correctly , given depth oxengated , food sourced pulls , still think the only good water in delaware county is not stocked streams , or sections of stocked streams that litterbugs lost access too , thus the night time fly fishing ,,,,you guys had a fun day ,,,, i saw late last night that they seemed to put in far fewer trout but monsters in the stream i saw last night , this being paddys day 19

bruh you need to handle trout with care if not they will die. most of the fish you released rolled on the ground for like 10 seconds thats enough for them to loose their slime coat

+Key West Kayak Fishing no haha. The Palomino rainbow trout and Golden Rainbow Trout are genetically mutated rainbow trout to remove their skin pigmentation to give the yellow color. So they are stocked from the state for us to catch

Yeah all the stocked trout are bred for being caught and eaten anyway so they always throw a few in the creeks. The ones that do manage to survive the waves of fisherman are really fighting for their lives because of how visible they are so they have to dodge herons and bears

I don't think you understand, that fish would be caught days after its release and then be kept, or released again and kept after that. There has never been a palomino in my area that hasn't made it past May. sooo in that case it'd already be dead. This was also not my fish, i posted my friends video. It was not my choice to keep it or release it.

releasing any stocked trout is stupid... but releasing a Palomino is completely without merit. A Palomino is strictly a fish created in the lab... it has no camouflaging that protects fish in the wild... in short, Palominos are destined to live a short life, they will surely die at the hands of an angler or to some predator.
