Hi! I also took STEM, then Comp Scie and mag s-second year na rin ako ngayon. I didn't regret my strand kasi naging big help ang subjects sa STEM specifically math. It doesn't matter what Strand and Track you choose, as long as you're willing to take it, love it, and consider it as a passion. For me, my 1st year of computer science was very fun, not quite stressfull, and time saver(maraming free time). It's because of the fact that CS has fewer units than other courses like engineering so you will definitely have more time to rest. Hindi siya stressfull kac you will only handle few major subjects unlike 2nd year and 3rd year but still depends on school's curricullum. One thing that I liked in CS is that hindi sya all about memorizing but more on logic and problem solving. My advice for upcoming freshmens is to advance study. Try to learn it ng paunti-unti, and make programming as a hobby lalong lalo n ngayon ecq/gcq. Edit: For those na hindi pa sure kung cs ba talga ang kukunin nyo course (like me noon), try to research about CS, specially mga career oppurtunity in CS. Haha😄 advance study lang po ang maadvice ko😄 like my prof always telling to us. If magshishift po kayo ng bagong languange like saamin (C++, nagpython, and magjajava nxt sem), it's better to start learning it asap. It's also better to study OOP in advance. And I also asked my kuyas/ates(3rd/4th year na ngayon) for their advices.

@@cosmicevo1266 most of them are real life problems like for instance you have to compute for the net income of a person, and you will create a program that will solve for it. There are also problems that you'll use math equations to solve certain problems, for example, creating a program that will find the roots of a quadratic equation.

I'm an ICT comp prog student. I chose my strand bc I really enjoy programming and I already have background in it since I was in grade 8. Pero ngayong upcoming grade 12 na ko, I saw the pros and cons of being an ICT student. Pro is that I got to enhance my knowledge about programming (pero since I learned the basics of HTML, Visual Basic, and C language in junior high, I only learned a bit kasi basics lang din ang tinuro samin this shs but nonetheless it's fun cuz I rlly like programming). One of the cons is that, in my class, most of my classmates chose ICT Prog bc they don't have any choice, so its kinda hard to do group projects with them cuz they don't take it by heart. And honestly, when it comes to college entrance tests, mas favorable ang STEM students. Why? It's bc they have broad knowledge in math and science and it will be kinda easy for them to take the test unlike me, na hindi natutukan ang math and science kasi ICT prog ako. Kaya advice sa mga magtetake at nagtetake ng ICT kung gusto niyo makapasok sa mga schools like UP, you better review harder kasi wala tayong advantage pagdating sa math and science. But if you really want to apply to big schools but you're not good in math, I suggest you choose STEM in shs cuz I heard they will also teach you the basics of programming in college so no worries :))

@@justinekanelongay9435 I'm enjoying it so far, like nung first sem medyo nahihirapan pa ako sa mga pinag aaralan since medyo new palang ako, btw java ung mga lessons namin, and habang tumatagal paganda siya ng paganda hahaha ngayon na eenioy ko na sya, masaya mag code ng mga programs. And malapit na matapos final sem namin and I can't wait to learn more pa sa next school year. Madali lang sya intindihin, kailang mo lang talaga aralin ng mabuti hanggat sa di ka na malito, and also some problem solving skills at mga trial and error, mostly ganun nga ginawa ko nun. Enjoyin mo lang comsci, and marami ka matututunan hehehe

From STEM din ako at naisip ko lng nung nag STEM ako na gusto ko matuto mag program. Sa tingin ko maganda kung magaral ka na agad ng basics ng programming kung kukuha ka ng IT o CS kung from STEM strand ka. Wala kasing offer na coding subjects sa ibang STEM strands. 😊👍👍

ComSci is about algorithms, theory of computation, computational problems, and computer systems. compare to other IT courses ComSci has a lot of programming with computation. also, Programming is pure math. If you already know some programming languages and still think that programming is different from math then you're doing it wrong. It's a really bad thing to sugarcoat the fact that you don't need to be good at math in ComSci however even if you're bad at math right now you can still improve if ComSci is your dream course :) it only takes hard work and determination.

I agree but i'm not sugarcoating naman po. My approach po is to let people know not to be scared if they think na 'di sila magaling sa math. I also said po in my video na basta po willing matuto and mag-improve, they don't have to worry about anything :))

If you're talking about ComSci alone, yes, you need math, because you're fucked if you don't study math in ComSci, but programming? No, you can program without math, though it is limited, web dev? Simple GUI games? No math needed, but if you wanna do Data Science? Machine Learning? Robotics? Without math?? LMAO you're fucked. It really depends on the situation if you'd need math for programming or not

IT focuses more on real life situations kasi like improving and maintaining computer systems, operating databases. On the other hand, CS focuses more naman on parang science behind it ganun like the algorithm of how the computer systems was made.

Hindi ako graduate ng computer science or IT self taught lang pero marunong ako sa, C#, Python, PHP, nalilito ako kung, IT ba or Computer Science ang course na kukunin ko.

I suggest you research more on the career field you're interested and find out if saan siya sa mas focused kung sa IT ba or CS. For example, I was really inspired by Mayuko (a software engineer and a youtuber) so I took Computer Science. My dream of becoming a Software Engineer might change as I take the degree but it definitely helped me get started with what I want.

I have GAS friends na nag IT/CS but they did well. Im a STEM student who took CS as well. Kahit ano naman pong strand pwede sa CS as long as you're dedicated and willing to take the course. Goodluck to your College journey👍.

yung tipong pa ulit ulit lang teacher inyo hangang 4th year sa programming kasi isang section lang kayu haha 17 students enrolled... lahat sa IT na sign up... 5 mins program challenge bawat meeting, habang katabi mo teacher mo pina panood gaano ka linis ang code hahaha... 100 or 0 score each exercises. kaso 10 lahat exercise tapos 3 lang na accomplish mo out of 10, matutulala ka nalang pag katapos ng lab ; (

may background na po ba kayo sa programming before you took up CS? i'm considering taking CS po huhu but i honestly don't have any good background/experience about code and programming and i'm worried baka 1st year pa lang ma left behind na ko. im still considering whether to take a med-related or tech-related program, but since i tend to easily forget what i learn kapag hindi ko siya paulit-ulit na ginagawa, i'm leaning more towards tech kasi i got the impression na since it's about coding and programming and more practical work, i'll be able to understand it easier :) (ps thank you po sa video!!

Hi! Wala akong background noon HAHAHA if meron man, super basic lang about visual basic, arduino, etc... but compared to my blockmates, walang wala ako pagdating sa background or experience but sa college naman, back to zero lahat na magstastart subjects niyo from the very beginning, ayun nakaya ko naman so im sure kayang kaya mo rin :))

Hi! Yes pwede naman but mas aligned siya sa Information Technology if im not mistaken. Also, may ibang university na nago-offer ng cybersecurity na degree like De La Salle :))

Waaaah! As an aspiring Com-Sci student, I really hope I can do it. Matagal ko na talagang gustong course ang Com-Sci, pero yung negativity ang pumipigil sakin, and I wasn't able to take ICT nor STEM as my strand in shs since no choice ako kundi kunin ang GAS.
