Yet another composition from the Contemporary Piano Anthology songbook (published by Faber Music).
*Fabio Friedli is a former architecture student turned film-maker and musician, who makes songs from a combination of new sounds and old samples. He works under the name Pablo Nouvelle, out of a love of the French cinematic nouvelle vague of the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Zaouiat Ahansal appeared on Piano Pieces (2019) - a collection of piano compositions. "The simplicity of composing pieces using only the piano has something honest to it. I wanted to draw a drastic contrast to this short-living world, drowning in hate and plastic. My journey to Zaouiat Ahansal - a hidden village in a remote valley in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and only accessible by foot or mule - inspired the idea of this plain tranquility."
