Possibly, but Reign in Blood definitely had a much bigger impact.
@jillimyjilikers203610 жыл бұрын
Volis? You're probably right, I was making a direct reference to early Slayer. By 1986 you had Possessed, Kreator, Sepultura, Sodom etc but in 1983 when most of those bands were discovering this, they were all fapping over slayer
@volimNestea10 жыл бұрын
Jillimy Jilikers Pa ono ^^ Well, yea but Show no Mercy came out in like December 1983, so you might consider it a 1984 album. Not that it matters that much though. But still, 1984 was a much greater year when it comes to extreme (death / black) metal, with Bathory, Celtic Frost, Destruction and Sodom all releasing their debuts along with Slayer's Haunting the Chapel and Venom's At War with Satan, and all those albums had an influence on the developing death metal. Of course, it was the next two years that lit the fuse of what was to become death metal.
@jillimyjilikers203610 жыл бұрын
Kuku, lele dunjeranke. If you've heard early Mantas/Death demos and the like, the vocals point towards the death growl. Hellhammer was also very heavy, but I think the breaking point towards more 'extreme' metal was Slayer, speedwise. That's the best sound anyway, early death/thrash, just awesome. Where are you from?

MuristekTV-- I hear ya bro, although i will say that my dad was into some cool music but death just slipped under his radar probably as death was a little less main stream, and he grew up in nebraska, not a lot of music scenes there. But my dad did get me into primus, zeppelin, floyd, maiden, and others so he wasn't all bad. My mom was a van halen head, total 80's chick. I was born in the wrong generation, I at least got to see a few slayer shows with jeff before he keeled over.

agreed, man. I don't get how people can say that 'Reign in Blood' is overrated. Each song is completely different from the last and every one is a total thrash experience. The riffs are played just long enough to be good for music's sake and aren't overplayed at all. Fantastic album.

@JohnnyRambur Totally agree with you. Slayer introduced the sound of death metal with the reign in blood album, also Bathory, Celtic Frost, Hellhammer, Possessed and some punk-hardcore bands in the mid 80´s created the sound that in those times were just a musical experiment and that lately was going to be called death metal. Even Motörhead played a big roll. A lot of bands created the basis of the death metal sound.
