HOW I MAKE A GUITAR ROSETTE

I love working with bone. It is a hard material, but you can combine a lot of tools to work it. Another thing I love is black and white combination. This rosette is made folowing an ancient inlay technique that is a variant of the intarsio work. First you prepare your bone pieces. In this case diamonds and circles. Then, instead of cutting spaces in ebony for the small bone pieces, you fill with black powder and glue. As you will watch, it is very useful to leave the inner and outer purfling rings to help you to put the filling in place.

Hi man, called me Márcio, I'm Brazilian and a new luthier. Can you tell how I can do this black filling? Cause I don't know yet how we do this , I believe that had used ebony powder or rosewood, but the type of glue I don't Know. Thank you in advance !!!

MarcinhoLage there are a few ways to do it. I prefer pigment and hide glue that has to be used hot. Is the way they did in the past and a combination that works well. There are different materials today . You can choose.
