I thought it was odd people didn't know this. The red one is obviously the smart one and the orange one is obviously unpredictable and sometimes stupid. It was the blue and pink ones that always confused me though I always just assumed pink was the 2nd smartest and blue 3rd smartest but I guess they are just the same.

They are not. They use a basic algorithm to track Pac-Man's position, his expected future position, and then each ghost uses that data to move in a unique way. It's pretty impressive for a game released in 1980.
