If you ever make an updated version of this you have to promise me that you'll get this narrator out of retirement and keep those DANK BEATS.

He looks like he's in his 40s, and this was done in 1980, 1982, and so on. Its 2020, 40 years later. He'd be in his 80s, if he's still alive.

Thank god for these videos, they have helped me out so much at my job. I run the smt line and I needed to learn how to do rework on the pcbs and these videos have so much information as I didn't know what the hell I was doing at first other than how to clean off the flux. Thank you so much! Very clear instructions from start to finish. Well done!

After watching the 1980 and 1982 PACE instructional videos, I’m impressed. These are great videos for people who build and repair guitar tube amplifiers. Craftsmanship of your work will definitely improve after watching all the PACE videos. Forget Hakko and Weller, you’ve got a new customer!

Now you understand why high reliability electronics cost so much; because of the insane quality control through each and every step of the processes these objects go through to ensure to the highest degree it will not have delayed fail after manufacture or repair.

Bring back the professional standards of yesteryear, that is, ones that you hold yourself to. It's good for your self respect and for the technical outcome. So many things are made and done these days without consideration for this. It's a shame.

According to this site (hackaday.com/2017/06/29/key-to-soldering-pace-yourself/) and this one (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6Dcqqpogqasr6c) his name is Paul Anthony, and he was a weatherman on Washington DC TV station WDVM in the 1980's, the same timeframe as the PACE soldering videos. In the second link, go to the 6:00 mark and you'll see and hear him. His distinctive voice is unmistakable. Haven't been able to find any info on whether he's still with us.

Consumer electronics repair is pretty much dead at this point. Maybe industrial or niche fields?
@spartan4567 жыл бұрын
Well, the purpose of this is not entirely for consumer electronics. PACE and other companies and rework facilities mostly exist nowadays not to repair consumer electronics, but repair military, avionics, and spacefaring-grade electronics. Electronics systems you'd find in use by the military, airplanes and jets, and space travel (space shuttles, capsules, satellites). Given the meticulous nature of how strictly they abide by IPC standards in all of these videos, I think they're just in general very good instructional tutorials to watch if you're interested in consumer electronic repair. There still exists a market for it but it is very niche, as not everybody has the ability to do it and not everybody has problems that need to be solved with extensive board level diagnosis and repair.
