Good morning! On average, what was the daily weight of your backpack? You were always clipping along and rarely looked like you were struggling with weight at all. So happy with your completion and your attitude throughout the hike. Looking forward to your triple crown adventure and "we'll see you in the next one!"

Thoroughly enjoyed following you throughout your PCT journey. Thank you for regularly posting your videos. I also have a ULA Circuit pack. Have several hundred Sierra miles on it but have not experienced any rubbing type issues. Would love details on what was rubbing on your sleeping pad. Good hiking!

Hey Goob! I've been estranged for a few months and I'm just now catching up. Congratulations on finishing the PCT! It sounds like you had a wonderful adventure and made some memories. Thank you for posting your gear review. I will probably watch it a few more times as I prepare for my next hike. When you Triple Crown those old socks, you should have them enshrined! Hike On! Ramble

Good to hear from you. Nice video and great information. When would start the CDT Trail? That would be great a live Q and A. What date and time for Q and A? Thanks for sharing. Stay Safe and REST ON than HIKE ON!!!

Good the hear the Durston pack worked out for you. I hear he is coming out with a larger version as well. You should give the Platypus Quickdraw a look. I have switched from the Befree and I am very happy with my decision.

you should try to pair those gloves with some sort of rain mitt. like the vertice rain mitts. or something similar. or if you still want dexterity try something like a showa 281 glove. mitts usually will keep your hands warmer overall because they trap more warmth.

Just found your channel. And now I have something to look forward to. Regarding keeping hands warm, as I am from Sweden and used to cold winters, I would say. Mittens over gloves. 100% of the time. Wool mittens not synthetic.

Congratulations on your finish! Thank you for sharing your awesome journey! Does it bother you that you were not able to make it to the northern terminus? Will you ever go back and finish that section? Can not wait until your next adventure.

I'm new to your channel and love your concise presentations. I would like to learn more about how you managed your meals and what foods you chose. This is the one area I'm unsure about when prepping for the AT. Thank you Goob.
@goobsadventures
@goobsadventures Жыл бұрын
All of my meals consisted of stuff I found in town stops, I never sent myself a single resupply box. I would say every town that you would stop into is used to having lots of hikers pass through and is stocked well enough for the types of foods that the average through hiker is looking for like ramen, knorr sides, and clif bars. Sometimes you might be limited on variety but I never got tired of having to eat the same stuff for multiple stretches.

if room and weight aren't an issue, I can't recommend the thermarest compressible pillow. one of my favorite pieces of gear. There's nothing like a real pillow with you. I'm a side sleeper and I keep a cheap klymite inflatable to stuff in between my legs and I can wrap my buff around it if need be. Just a thought but this all works so well for me. I'm not a ground sleeper but with the nemo tensor wide long it a,l works for me on the ground. Yiou , obviously don't have ground sleeping issues but back to the pillow. It's all comfort.

Goob, I enjoy watching your PCT videos and have rewatched many. I plan to be out there on the PCT this year. Can you tell me which size Zpack bear bag kit you used? Was it the Large 3.4 oz. 5-6 days of food, or the Big - 3.1 oz. 3-4 days of food. Did you use any other bag(s) inside the Bear bag for either order or rodent control? Thanks, Dave
@goobsadventures
@goobsadventures Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure exactly what size my food bag is but it's probably the larger one because I can definitely fit 5-6 days of food in it no problem and I have never used any type of odor prof bags on the inside.

Was it the two really tough pieces of fabric on the bottom on both sides that holds the carbon hoop that was causing the rubbing? I have a circuit as well and have always wondered if those edges were too sharp and cause abrasion.
@goobsadventures
@goobsadventures Жыл бұрын
I think it was more towards the top of the inside of the bag on the side against my back. I can’t remember the exact spot that was causing the damage.

I used a 20 degree bag from Zpacks. I don’t really weigh my gear but I would guess the base weight is around 12 pounds or so.
