I forgot to take the car OUT of park so many times I got an achievement for it: 'Driver's Ed Dropout". So i got the "Automatic Parker" which is really the "automatic put it in drive-er" It puts the car into drive every time you get back into the car.

The Helmsman with the load of cash could be a reference to D B Cooper, the man who hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 (although it was in Nov 1971 not 1972). Instead of a ship he actually jumped out of a plane over Portland Oregon. A bit far but don't understand the story otherwise or why a helmsman would have a backpack of cash on him when he was tossed off his ship.

With regards to each zone having a preponderance of a given threat, I am reminded of those tedious RPG quests where you have to crawl through a realm that deals LOTS of a given damage type, like Fire, Acid, whatever, the big reward is some item to RESIST that damage, and the icing on the cake? That particular type of damage is usually FAR LESS COMMON OUTSIDE OF THAT ONE ZONE. You are roasted alive to get a fire-resistance item only to find that the majority of fire-damage dealers in the game only existed within the zone you had to fight through first to get the stupid item!

The Recks are pretty obvious once you get used to seeing them, even then just throw it in reverse and you will dodge the MAIN shockwave, though your car is probably still gonna get shocked though.

Yes, and i'd say they did a poor job with budgeting aswell. It put francis into a sort of panic as he'd invested 8 years on that one project, and that's how he started to forge a bit just to keep it going.

The joys of the layman's definition of theory being "guess" whereas the scientific definition is a tested and proven hypothesis... which is an educated guess. This double meaning on the word theory is why I personally am very careful to say I have a hypothesis on what has happened and never, ever use the word theory to mean guess.

7 QURIKS?! And i thought MY car was bad, i had 6. Thankfully its pretty "easy" to diagnose Quirks if you willing to sit their for a few minutes and flip every switch and press every button until something odd happens. And thankfully most quirks are not a big deal or even noticable, some are even helpful. That Upgrade that adds the "investigate" module is GOD SEND though. Once you have it _ALWAYS_ Investigate the GREEN and ORANGE sections if you have the Energy to do so. By doing this you will ALWAYS know what things are effected, so it just becomes a matter of interacting with those things to figure out what happens. Plus you have 8 guess's and MOST bits of the car don't have many options to pick from.

My friend invested in the acid panels because of problems in the mid zone. I must have gotten lucky as I barely took any damage from acid. For me, it's armoured panels as it turns out that when I drive impact damage is common no matter what layer of the zone you're in.

Re: Peer review I've known friends in academia who busted their brains working on their doctoral theses. I've met people like Oppie, who really should only be allowed into leadership positions like tenure on the condition of regular counseling for narcissism, sociopathy, sadism, and other disorders, because boy do those positions attract untreated personality disorders. I'm sure Jingles actually (ackshually??) meant "assertion" or "conjecture" when he said "theory", because scientific theories are broadly accepted by scientific consensus and they have a huge amount of experimental data from multiple sources to back them up, one rando in a lab can't just write a theory and publish it, if I remember it correctly. Other than that one word, what Jingles says is true. I still remember the disgraced Japanese researcher insisting on camera that "STAP cells exist", despite the fact that she doctored a bunch of data like photographs. There have been recent cases of plagiarism in academia (probably because more papers are digital now, meaning they are much easier to search). Some people are desperate to make a mark in science, possibly win a Nobel Prize, and some people want to feather their caps by becoming a regent, provost, dean, etc. But just about every one of their careers were ruined because science is best achieved through good faith, trust, and rigorous validation, and if you do something like publish _falsified or stolen_ data, no one in the scientific community can trust the rest of your work. It's akin to getting disbarred as a lawyer, getting defrocked or excommunicated as a member of the clergy, or having your license revoked as a doctor, it's a career death sentence. I think Francis knows he done f***ed up, that's why he doesn't want Tobias' words of validation (also there appears to be irrational blaming of Tobias for contacting Oppie). I also think he was being candid, Oppie most likely kicked him while he was down during the disciplinary hearings, ensuring that he was humiliated well beyond the disgrace of having lost his position at the lab, and she was likely instrumental in Francis being stuck at the company as a desperate lab rat as opposed to being fired, tortured by what he could see but could never touch. I'm sure his former colleagues, under Oppie's influence, bullied him mercilessly. That's trauma, there's likely PTSD, and I don't blame him one bit for never wanting to hear Oppie's voice again. So sure, Francis screwed up, he can't be a scientist ever again, but I think he didn't deserve the insult on top of injury.

'Oxidizing Battery' Okay, so fast and loose electro-chemistry. Most vehicle batteries (not counting EV/Hybrid vehicle drive batteries) are Lead-Acid batteries. Simple version, you have two plates of lead. One lead-dioxide, and one lead. Both are suspended in a solution of H2SO4. Under normal conditions, the Lead-dioxide plate reacts with the H2SO4, the SO4 (sulfate) reacting with the lead, forming Lead-Sulfate, kicking the dioxide (O2) off the plate, and reacting with the H2 leftover to form water. At the same time, the Sulfate reacts with the regular lead plate, also making Lead-Sulfate. As these reactions occur, electrons build up on the naked-lead side since it can't trade oxygen out, but want to migrate over to the Lead-dioxide side, producing a voltage potential across the battery terminals. If you oxidize, say, the naked lead plate, you give it oxygen atoms to trade instead of building up electrons, and thus, you don't get a good charge potential, IE: voltage.

Something you should know Jingles it turns out that a huge number of "research" is done buy private companies to help support the selling of whatever they are selling or politically motivated entities. From what I understand about half of all the studies we see fall under this situation, necessity of fiber, fat makes us fat, drinking 7 glasses of fluids and that is just in the food industry. A good portion amount of research that is published isn't actually peer reviewed.

There seems (to me, anyway) to be an episode missing between last time and this time. Suddenly there are upgrades that weren't there after the last episode. If it isn't asking too much, Jingles, could you please create an episode explaining what happened between last time and this time? I don't mind you skipping over minor stuff, but the upgrading would've been nice to see. It makes me wish I could play this game, but I can't. (In case you're wondering: I don't have the money (I'm currently unemployed and broke and using two computers I bought back in 2011 or maybe 2012) or the computer hardware (my Windows computer runs Windows 7 and its graphics card has about 6 GB of GRAM on it -- my Mac laptop is even less able to run this game, if there was a Mac version of it, which there isn't). The requirements on Pacific Drive's website said you needed at least 18 GB of RAM (I have 12 GB) and I don't remember how much GRAM) to play games like this, so it's nice to see how it's played.) Also, your commentary over the years has been like having a really good gaming friend letting me sit near them and watch and listen to them play games; and your willingness to show when you mess up (and your reactions to your mistakes) is wonderful. Btw, Gplaps is another KZbinr who is equally willing to show and talk about when he makes mistakes. Showing mistakes is fine, but saying *why* they're mistakes is what I appreciate. Some KZbinrs show the mistakes, but often say nothing about those mistakes. I think they assume that viewers are telepathic or don't care about explanations.

I find it weird that my tinker station colors are 100 % different than yours, and I have no idea why. Your "edges" are red - mine are grayish-white which makes it very hard to see the yellow font in the bottom left of the main screen. Almost every time I come back from a run - I will go thru the basics of stuff for quirks. Turn the steering wheel, turn on every thing, open doors, move back and forth, shift, run thru the radio controls etc.... to find quirks. I have had one that involves the lights and then seemingly getting brighter when I open the front door, but every time the tinker station will not diagnose it. Kinda frustrating and just recently found the "hidden" (see first sentence) v message to use Klim for hints - I have extra stable power (gobs of it actually), so I need to see if I can find the root cause.

I really would like to get this game because it looks fun, but i cant say i am comfortable supporting the devs with the kind of behavior they have been exhibiting in regards to criticism of the game....
