Holy cow! Thunder, lightning, and super heavy rain three times last week in The Black Hills SD. Thought the hail would break my windshield. I live in Lakewood WA 🐂🐂🐂

Hey Michael! I recently watched a docum where it stated that thee Arabian Desert once was temming with forest vegitation. Makes me wonder,,, did I move from a desert "elono escatado" to another one in its infancy? Wheres the rain?

If it’s such a dry system with only lightening, why do they call it “monsoon moisture”? Monsoons in SE Asia are drenching in nature.

Monsoon is actually just a wind pattern, that may bring heavy rains with it, not always.

Thanks it blows in W.Texas more than it dosent. In NM & AZ its seasonal but with gully washing rain. Appreciate that info.

Can you please do a dive into what MONSOON is and what it means to PNW? I've always understood the term to apply to SE Asia, & the Indian Ocean

Indeed. SE Asian monsoons are drenching in nature. And yet, American monsoons seem to only have “dry lightening”. Very confusing verbiage.

Please refrain from "All time record" unless you include the years of the record. Is it 50 years, 100 years, 150 years, 200 years, 250 years? The first weather satellite was just ~ 60 yrs ago, the Vanguard 2 in 1959. There was a dearth of satellite info in the beginning. As far as I know we had just a few still pictures of the 1962 Columbus Day Blow Down. The point is that we just don't know any "all time records". We only know what we have measured since we began measuring and recording xxx number of years ago and THAT is how it should be reported. Furthermore the LOCATION of the instruments is critical. Are they in a park over grass or on a tarmac on and airport or other island of heat. Were they taken over a body of water or over rocks? You understand the concern I am sure. Thank you for your reporting.
