So happy you are doing this. I am playing an online match and my opponent is super frustrated with the rules. I advised him to watch your videos. Keep it up!

Thanks again for your valuable contribution for learning a rather complex game! Let me also stress the fact that in the Movement Phase a hex can only be searched once. This creates the following interesting situation, if you two undetected Task Forces and you want to invade an enemy Task Force hex necessarily one will remain undetected gaining surprise in the upcoming combat. Also a hasty search of a hex may give the opponent the opportunity to use it as a “blind” hex in the path of an another Task Force. Keep sharing!!

Thanks--yes, that is sneaky--I have to find a way to try that!

What’s your opinion, do we search Task Forces or hexes? In both the contact and movement phases a hex can be searched once ( per increment and per phase correspondingly). This means that if you move two TFs in the same hex, in the same increment and we assume that searching has to do with TF and not with hex the opponent must decide which TF to search. The other remains necessarily undetected as the hex may only be searched once…..in the case of movement you may send a TF as bait. The opponent search for it but automatically two blind hexes are created for another TF to follow and so to avoid detection.
@thegeneralsretreat16452 жыл бұрын
We search for TFs but the limitation includes searching only once in a particular hex. Yes, you could try to “hide” a TF by placing two in one hex and hoping the opponent picks the wrong one. But the disadvantage is that the detection roll will be easier with two TF there. Having “decoy” TF’s is perfectly legitimate.

When preparing to make a video like that, could you please place and fix the game map so that it's steady in place during the video? It really made me nervous that it was shifted in the frame more than a dozen times during the video... thanks!

Thanks for this video! I am just learning how to play PW myself and found myself wondering if I had interpreted the Search rule differences for Contact Phases and Normal Movement phases correctly. As the rules don't provide any good example for the regular Movement phase - so one could easily Search the same way it is explained in the Contact Phase! But quite a difference actually. I have a follow up question for you: when searching, does the searching player have to declare what plane types are searching? Or can he keep that hidden and just roll the dice and announce the result?
@thegeneralsretreat16452 жыл бұрын
No, you don’t have to declare plane types. That would give away too much (since they might see that your carriers/TF are close). One of the “trust” factors when playing FTF.

Not only are un-activated air units alerted, but I believe they can also participate in CAP. I haven't found any rule that says they can't, but one alerted F unit can be assigned to CAP. Ergo...
@thegeneralsretreat16452 жыл бұрын
Yes you are absolutely correct. Unactivated units are eligible to participate in combat, just not initiate attacks. So CAP is totally ok-they’re just in defense mode. Even ships that are in ports can fire if attacked.
