My Grandfather drove one of these when I was a young kid. My Grandmother called it (after the Ajax horse) "The White Tornado". His Deluxe had a tube AM Radio and a searchlight on the driver's side. When he bought his next car he put it up on blocks (it still ran) and my cousin and I played in it. Years later, his kids sold it off, which I knew was a mistake, but at fourteen I had no money and no place to put it. I saw the same thing happen with a 1958 Chevy Delray and a 1962 Coupe DeVille Cadillac later on. They were all pretty much given away. Maybe they wanted to get rid of them before I got my driver's license, lol. It seemed to me they had a gift for being pennywise and pound foolish. Of course, hindsight's 20/20 for every generation, only with respect to different things. I rode around with my Grandad in that car many times. Thanks for the nostalgic look back!

My story is very similar. My grandfather had a 49 4-door. He gave it to his son, my uncle, who I'm sure disposed of it quickly. Several years later I bought a 50 2-door which I had for 17 years. I loved everything about my grandfather's car. He also had the tube radio and the wind-up clock. The car always seemed to be smiling. My grandmother named it "Loveable".

My parents had a 49 just like this only grey with a white top. My Dad kept it for years and years even though it did not run. My Mom always called it the family car. I remember going to the outdoor theater in it. I had the middle in the back seat. These cars had a split windshield. You can see my frustrations. I still have the horn button. I would love to have one of these.

I mean I have one if you want it, it’s pretty bad though. The one I have has no floor pans, no brakes, no engine, but it has all the original chrome and the original red glass hood ornament option.

@@hippycow1006 Thanks but no thanks. I really don't think I want a project like that.

That's a 1950 not 1949. 49 was a fastback, this is a hump back. I used to own one.

I wonder how much that would sell for? It would have to be cheaper than the mid-fifties cars and a lot cheaper than the 60s muscle cars
