Brilliant effort. I went with my daughter this weekend too with the intention of pacing her. She ended up pacing me 😂... well done Joe. Top running. A bright future ahead of you there 💪✨️

@@whereweoffDAD Awesome! Such a great thing to do with our kids, hey. At the moment we ‘force’ our daughters to do Parkrun but I’m hoping they learn to enjoy it :-)

@jimmyrunsoz absolutely agree - they all need a bit of encouragement. I think my over enthusiasm for running was a bit too much when she was younger tho. Expected her to run 5k most weekends at 8yo was a bit too much for her, in hinsight 5k is long distance for developing legs. Thankfully she remembers the good times and I've just recently at 14yo got her back on board. My other daughter did 1 and I ended up carrying her round 😆... they're all different tho hey. Glad I've got 1 out of 3 who's took to it 👌... he's clearly a talented runner tho. That time is phenomenal. You might have a future olympian on your hands 🙌

@ haha yes 5km at 8yo is hardcore! Glad she came back to it though. My daughters are 14 (twins) so definitely old enough. They are actually extremely athletic - way more natural ability than me - but they just don’t care! So frustrating to see the potential and talent but they’re not in the least bit competitive and don’t have that killer instinct. But as you say, they’re all different so I try not to push them beyond healthy encouragement and trust that one day they’ll decide to develop some of that talent. And yes, great time from Joe - excited to see where he goes. Working on discipline and work ethic with him. So cool that he can learn these life skills through running. At 11yo to apply some discipline and consistency to training and then see that directly translate into achieving his goals is absolutely golden. Amazing life lessons to learn so young!

@jimmyrunsoz it's a tough one to balance as a parent. I feel I would benefited with encouragement as a kid so try to be that to my kids but then not all of them want or appreciate it so we have to trust the process. We just want what's best for them tho hey 👍.. nice one
