I saw someone with a brilliant idea for packing Washi tape in a space saving way ... the person wrapped the Washi tape around an old bit of an expired credit or gift card. It was super space saving. Thanks for sharing your travel kit.

What I like to do with washi tape is wrap some around an old hotel key card or old gift card, that way it’s flat and I can take a few different ones. Love this video, and I’m impressed! I usually have to take a bigger pouch! The struggle is real.

I always have a fountain pen with watersoluble ink (often in a colour other than black), a water brush or two, a few watercolour pencils, three permanent fineliners in different sizes, a small sharpener or blade, and a black watersoluble Tornado pen. Those are my must-haves, but I always have too much stuff, no matter what I do. 😄

Pentel Pocket brush pen almost never leaves my side. Great for thin strokes, lettering, and for covering a large areas. I'd take an extra cartridge to a longer trip too, but usually one lasts me a good while.

Hey, you can always wrap a few colors of washi tape around an old room key or credit card…I can usually fit 4 or 5 colors on one…super flat!

I liked your process and you are correct having too much, you end up not using it at all. I carry 6 washi tapes. Have a suggestion for carrying a variety of tape. I have a piece of plastic cut lengthwise from an old empty dvd box. I used sandpaper to round the edges. You can use an old hotel keycard also, but only holds 4. I picked out 6 that I love and wound the washi off the roll and onto the plastic piece. You can go round about 6 times which gives you about 24” of tape (depending on how wide you cut strip) without bulking out. Just continue wrapping each design around the narrow side leaving about 1/8” between. This assumes a standard width roll. Narrower ones you can get more than 6 on the piece. What’s nice is you can customize the size for your pencil case. Hope this helps.

With the washi tape, I’ve seen some people wrap a small amount of different tapes around a card (like an old credit card) so they can take a variety of tapes but it hardly takes up any room.

I have this same dilemma for my everyday Carrie’s. I need my journal/ planner supplies and my art kit supplies. I use A6 size for both planner a art journal. I just purchase the Derwent ArtPack. Game changers .It works great for minimal art supplies . Then for my planner I use my small delfonics pouch . It sits on my desk at work very well. I switch supplies every week to rotate my obsessions🤣 .

I have the same problems . Where to carry the water, and how to protect the pencils? I found the small alcohol squeeze bottles we all carried during Covid works well carrying water and fits into the water color pen for refilling.

If you can go to a dollar store you can get a finger rest its so you dont get a callaus or mark on your finger and slide it up on the pencil tip so it doesnt break then you can slide it down on pencil use it for your finger you can get a few for a few dollars...i wrap my tape around the marker or oen barrel to help save space....

The struggle is real! I often cut a business card in half and wrap a few stretches of washi tape around it, so it can even be a bookmark if needed. (: My glue stick I also leave at home - with one color washi tape to tape down and designate Things To Be Glued Once Home. Heheh.

@@aaronying4989 for the really heavy bag I was guiding an art tour in Mexico. We had our travel van, and so I only needed to lug the thing over to wherever we were sketching. If I'm walking around a city, I try to keep everything a bit lighter and in a backpack.

@@LisaSonora I’ve also had my travel kit examined also before getting on an airplane. Lol it was a bit much. I did have a pencil bag with all full of MANY different pens and pencils and things. They wanted to examine EACH pen and pencil lol. And I did have a small scissors or cutter and they had to get rid of it lol. They wanted to pour the entire contents out and examine them. Hah. Now I don’t carry that on the plane. 😂 they looked at me like I was a crazy person. 😅
