I've seen many of ur vids but not this one. I enjoyed the step by step illustrated instructions and it's KZbinrs like urself that make my life simpler by posting these vids. Thank you👍 the stove is great in many ways its a DIY project, complicity and its cost effective aswel. It's a win win all around.

Great video! I love the upside down approach to this build. Great insight by the manufacturer. Just 1 thing, if you had drilled the holes for legs in bottom as directed, your legs would come in on an angle and been more stable I believe. I believe the manufacturer intended on this canted leg design. Obviously it doesn't fall over and you did a great job in the build so don't take it as a criticism. Instructions are not always extremely clear. Awesome job!

That was my first thought too On their website you can see how the legs angle outward on the completed stove. Oh well, will still work fine. I too appreciate the effort showing us the build. Think I’ll get one.

Ok so Ive been considering making one for a bit just never got to it , I saw youre vid last weekend , and decided to to order the already built one , received it today , already burned it in , and loooove it , perfect for my polish lavuu during hunting season here in Texas , doesnt get freezing cold but chili nights this is going to come in handy , as well as other uses .... I did change the legs to 3/8 carriage bolts with wing nuts , and not mount to the grate but mount directly to the lid ( bottom), leaving the grid loose , makes it a little taller but more stable ... Also pou a 4 to 3 inch reducer and use three inch flu piping , just works better for my liking ........So glad I came across your vid so thank you !!!

Yeah I have used mine a few times since this video, and I plan on changing out the legs as well, thats a great idea with the carriage bolts, will have to give that a try!

@@Iridium242 Yeah , when I first saw your vid and decided to order it I knew I would make stronger legs and found no need to run them through the grate , its fine on its own . I just ran the 6" 3/8 c bolts trough the lid and have the wingnuts on the outside . I am sure ill be putting some kind of folding legs in the future but its great for now , It will be out in my tent with me tommorow night ....

I want to build an ammo can heater but I want to line it with ceramic fiberboard so it will last longer. Since I want to use it inside, I’d like to have the air intake come through the floor into the bottom of the stove.

No problem its a pretty simple kit, compared to the one I made ages ago from scratch, this one was incredibly simple to put together! I met the owner of this company at a local gun show, I was kind of shocked he thought to come up with these kits.

So the kit would be great for someone like me, thanks for sharing it, I also subscribed and hit that bell, I'm really surprised that I haven't had one of your videos recommended to me? Nice. I think the latch catch should be moved out so you can latch it in a semi open position or closed tight position. Handy for really getting the fire going.

Nice build and kit idea however it requires a lot of work and disruption of the setup to empty the ash especially while its hot. If someone waits for the stove to cool down then they lose interior heat perhaps a shallow slide out draw would help

Great, now I need to send out letters to tiny house companies so they can send me one to demo with this stove :) hahaha Yeah I remember seeing an episode of one of those tiny house homes, and they had a really small one similar to this for heat but you do need to feed it wood pretty often.

I have been wanting to do one of these for a long time. I like the kit idea, but I have one issue that I am concerned with. When you cut the bottom for the chimney, you cut what I would call a key hole shape instead of the circle. I would be concerned with smoke coming out the sides of the plate you put on top. Did the instructions say anything regarding escaping smoke?? Just wondering if a person could put the rope gasket around the plate you attach to seal that off? Great video and very informative!! Again, I may just order the kit to make me one, I already have 5 or 6 50 caliber ammo cans! Juddie - J & J TOA

it shouldn't be much of an issue, as under full dampening, that gap will allow some air in to improve the draw of the pipe.

What about something to cook with after a hurricane blows through since Fl power gets upset if you show preplanning by having solar that works when the power goes out. in OK the Koch brothers got their cronies in the government to tax you if you have solar power recently installed.

I have a question for you my friend. I have a 50cal box that I would like to buy this for. However, the online measurements are always messed up and I am not sure if this will fit. Would you kindly measure your box so I can see if this will fit? This is the online spec size... Package (L x W x H) - 11.6 x 5.7 x 7.1 in. Now, when I physically measure mine it seems like it is a little smaller than what the specs state for this product. Not sure f that includes shipping size with packaging. Thank you if you can measure the stove pipe dimensions across width and the length. I basically have 11" long on the bottom of the original box and about 5.8" on the width. Obviously the lid is wider. I just need your stove pipe side dimensions to make sure it will fit without modifying anything. Very much appreciated if you can help me. Cheers and God Bless.

@gwebocelestron9194
@gwebocelestron9194 6 жыл бұрын
Cool, but I think a 3" pipe would look more asthetic and I was wondering what keeps smoke from leaking around the top plate. Why the keyhole shape cut on top rather than just a hole? Hate the bolts for feet. Could come up with something better looking and more stable.
@Iridium242
@Iridium242 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I just built it via the directions, I will say that the screws on top do a good job holding down that top metal plate so no smoke was leaking out when I used it last (used it twice since this video) The Keyhole shape was suggested as it allows the metal plate to get hotter for cooking, again I just followed what the directions were for this one. The one I show in the video that I made myself I used a 3 inch pipe, its smaller and as you say, looks better but this one seems to do the job as well. I plan on doing a cooking video with it soon once I get through some other stuff I have to review.
