I like how Ria defined what she will look for before hand, keeping in mind her principles. Reminds me of Mike Monteiro's emphasis on how designers need to start making ethical choices in choosing what projects they take on. She eliminated other countless possibilities by having this criteria, hella cool. Also, this is a good idea and challenge, might hop on to the challenge and participate too :P loving the series

It would be great if assignments are just not handed over with brief but also each have role-play calls where they convince Chris about the payment of the assignment they should get . The one that get the most payment agreed gets extra points.

ishtiaq hussain Agreed, selling is a major emotional rollercoaster. As we can see from the previous episode, the $$$ question is one of the most intriguing. And for creative workers it is also a bit more challenging. Especially for those who are only beginning the journey and don’t feel as if they have enough skills and experience to be selling at all. I have this problem too. Loved the videos on that by The Futur, but live training conversations would be great. Just like the one in the last video.

Woo excited! Although not really understand why Conor is here again. Ss1 he commented he had too many works to focus on the design and now 2 days are all he can give? I mean if the opportunity isn't that important to him, maybe he should give it to other young guns.
@MonikaPern5 жыл бұрын
I feel the opposite, the opportunity is important, that's exactly why he is here. He is quite busy and if this didn't matter then he woulnd't spend time participating in the challenge. Kudos to Connor for managing this and client work as well as being really efficient in his process to be able to finish this in two days.
@cfowlerdesign5 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment I really appreciate the thought. Even if your comment is full of assumptions. During the airline phase I was bogged down with client work and didn't have the time to pursue the project as I wished. With this project I was able to carve some time out in advance, I learned from my previous scheduling mistake. I also worked on this over my weekend, on days I do not normally work. On days that I rest so, overall I'm very happy with the results for this project. Also, just to clarify your point about "letting other young guns have a go". The remaining two YG1s Sean and Sharif were unable to work on this project at all due to other commitments. So please be aware that sometimes life happens and you have to prioritise other things. I have loved and done my best to put my all into each project throughout this series and sometimes that didn't pan out as well as I hoped. We all move forward and learn though.

Maybe another requirement could have been, you can't pick a product that is identical to your ethnicity. Looking at you Annie! That Rabbit candy is good, but I would love to see you tackle a much more exotic and alien package challenge. All the other designers have gimped themselves with foreign packages. Having them dig themselves outta that research hole, well that make makes for good television.
@opster015 жыл бұрын
I think I understand your main notion is that Annie should have picked something more unfamiliar, right? Friendly note that Ria picked an American brand (Mother's Apple cider vinegar) which is in a language and culture that she is probably familiar with. Also, there seems to be an assumption that because White Rabbit is a Chinese candy and Annie (who may be Chinese?), would have familiarity with the packaging and language of the candy. However, you don't know if she has familiarity with the language and you don't know if she is familiar/comfortable with Chinese product design. Im korean but am not familiar with the korean language. As an Asian American I probably would have picked something fun that I grew up with like White Rabbit or Pocky. However, having lived in America my whole life, I have more knowledge of western packaging. Not trying to grill you, just trying to point out in hopefully a respectful manner some of the assumptions that were made in your comment.
@yangnamstyle5 жыл бұрын
Haha I get where you are coming from, but I feel like this was still hard for me even though I was familiar with this product growing up. I also knew people would be excited to see such an iconic childhood brand be redesigned:)

@@MatthewEncina To be honest: the "competition" aspect of this is the least appealing thing about the series for me at least. The first season was really "tone deaf" in not casting any women. You fixed that for season two. But bringing back the guys is just tone-deaf again. Its almost as if you don't trust the women to bring the "clicks" or be competitive. And the guys have already done this and had coaching and critique and you can't pretend they don't have a significant advantage. There is nothing fun about watching an unfair competition. You can do a cross-over at the end of the season. But it looks like you've changed the rules 4 episodes in and that really isn't fair.
