Yes. Both are great but Mario Kart is slower and has random outcomes. In Mario Kart you rely on weapons and luck, in CTR you rely on skill and speed.

They had everything laid right out in front of them for it to happen too. Amazing gameplay, great graphics, highly skill based but also plenty fun for casuals, incredible amounts of fanservice with characters and costumes, etc. But alas, it didn't make as much money as an average COD game so Activision pulled the plug on it super early.
