My first concert, May 1973 Boston Garden changed my life, I was 14. never stopped going to concerts. Something special happened there that helped to escape the madness of home, the neighborhood, heroin, coke, pills, violence. The music community, the passion, it was and is electric. SO many gone. today sober and grateful

I saw GFR in Tucson on 12/2/1972. A couple weeks before this video was filmed. Mark even had the same red pants and same guitar. I was in 9th grade. They were so great! Freddie King backed up. He was great too.

I saw Grand Funk Railroad one month before this show in the Hollywood Sportatorium in South Florida. Same exact show. These guys were unbelievable showmen. PS: No need to try and adjust the video, as car as my memory goes this is what 1972 looked like inside a concert venue. Everybody smoked and they weren't even air-conditioned sometimes so the smoke just hung in the air.

Late reaction to your comment. What you say shows your love for this great band. I too grew up with "heartbreaker"etc. I was 15 years back than, and GFR will always be a part of the happy times of my life, growing up with great music and having so much fun. Looking back, it seems these great bands were a part of me always. I still listen to Ten Years After, The Who, Jimmi H, Led Zep, etc. as well as a lot of great new music that is created these days. As long there is music there is hope. thanx!

Pure Rock. I'm 47 years old and i'm still listening to them as always. Today's Rock is not like the good old days, but i like to live in the era 60's & 70's, 80's, coz it's much better than today. Only Heaven & Hell a year before, Deeppurple and some others are still rockin'.

This is what many people think Rock & Roll is all about. GFRxR was simple and they were crude and they rocked with a vengeance without pretense or apology. Their live show was 100% energy. It was raw and it was real. For all us who remember, nothing can replace it.

Every time Mark sings a sentence (with his incredible voice) his guitar sings right back to him in perfect timing and pitch! Does anyone understand what I'm trying to say? >"now I don't cry no more" (his guitar sings back) "I live while I'm flying (his guitars sings back) "but I think back" (guitar sings back) "and you can hear me say"...wow I love that part!

In 1969 When I was 11, my neighbor Ritchie Jason had introduced me to Black Sabbath when his older brother Butch would give us a ride to eighth grade at fair haven Middle School in New Haven CT in his Pontiac Firebird Espirit and the Soul sucking sounds of the Ballad type derges from his quad speaker 8 track player had me hooked. It was a far cry from the Beatles, Bubble Gum and British Invasion Music I'd been listening to on Top 40 radio. Then along came WPLR FM and I heard this ballad. GFR became one of my favorite bands as I was learning the drums to Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, CCR and the like. as I transitioned to the Acid Rock era of Bands like Pink Floyd, I only listened as I couldn't do these bands justice playing their music. Oh sure, I took a shot at Cocaine, )the song and the drug), smoked alot of pot and kept playing Alice Cooper Welcome to my Nightmare, Dead Babies and Peter Frampton, Frampton comes alive until my 8 track died. Then I bought the album. Bands like the Grass Roots, Marshall Tucker, Cream and Lord knows who else keep my memories alive and then there's THIS. Live on my Friends!
