Fairly strong statement by GB's front office that they were no longer as committed to AR. They also failed to give Rodgers any kind of heads up (a simple phone call). Not that they needed his approval to draft a QB, but blindsiding your top player isn't the most respectful or classiest move. And we only know a fraction of everything that's occurred between Packer executives and Rodgers throughout his time in GB (which is similar to Brett Favre's situation prior to AR). AR doesn't want to work for/with people he no longer trusts or respects and who don't respect or value what he brings to the table. If GB is no longer a good fit (& vice-versa), GB should allow him to move on. There are plenty of other teams in need of an MVP QB.

What I'm confused about is how all last year during the draft, the big issue was not just they moved up and drafted a QB... BUT they did that and had huge holes elsewhere. Absolutely. Furthermore...the reason you take a qb in the first round if you are green bay is that Rodgers is now in his late 30's. He was injured and missed games in a couple of the last 4-5 seasons. When Rodgers signed his contract extension, he was the highest paid QB, so the team needed a decent QB that is on a rookie contract for up to the next 5 years. Its unbelievable the amount of whining these quarterbacks do when you make them the highest paid at the time they sign.
