It is a lot easier to get around in snow than on icy roads. I’ve lived in Texas and those ice filled parking lots are dangerous. You have no traction. I live in Alaska now and we have a lot of snow now, but we are driving in it.

Oh my gosh, I've never really been interested in puffer jackets because they don't particularly suit my style, body type or lifestyle but on a recent trip to Japan I bought one and can say they are an absolute must for any winter travel capsule. So practical!

I agree! I live near the west coast, so a waterproof hooded raincoat is my outerwear essential. By layering a lightweight puffer jacket underneath, I can wear the raincoat all winter. Warm and dry is the goal!

Absolutely love your outfits Alyssa. So many of them would be what I would style for myself in a travel capsule, if I were travelling to Eastern Australia, where the weather is much cooler and wetter than Western Australias warm, drier winter. No need for a puffer jacket here. I have a gorgeous pair of tan Doc Martins, 6cm heel, vintage style laceup boots. I've had them for 10 plus years. I love them, so comfortable and will never part with them. One of my favourite outfits for winter is a black, fine knit, V neck wool jumper with blue jeans and boots 😄 Thank you, as always, for sharing your travel adventures 🖤💙🤍

Great! I'm planning a trip (this year or next???) to Peru, from Oregon, and I'm gathering ideas on packing *very* light. I've got the backpack (as my overhead bin piece) and the purse/bag (for the other stuff) and don't want to check in a piece. Lima, Peru hardly ever gets below 50 degrees F, and around 70-85 F for highs, so it will be very different clothing than what you've shown us -- but the color combo is the same that I'm going for. So far I've purchased a pair of Eileen Fisher black silk pants and a pair of Teva black sandals that could be beachwear to dressy sandals. I'll no doubt be wearing my destroyed Levis jean jacket, packable black down jacket, and a pale camel cashmere shawl/scarf. Of course I'll bring my black silk blouse, a pair of black jeans and a pair of blue jeans. Beyond that...I'm still planning.

Absolutely love these combinations just my style, weather in UK can be pretty temperamental, made the mistake on a city break a couple of weeks ago and wore knee-high boots which I thought were very comfortable, but weren't because we did a lot of walking and so need to bring along more comfortable flatter boots and change into something more glamorous for the evening in future. Love the simplicity of the capsule wardrobe together with the lovely jewellery. I would probably take a leopard print scarf or something with all the tones needed. Love the idea of a white shirt under the pale blue V-neck I'm definitely going to do that one for spring. Thanks for the great vlogs, always an inspiration x

Wear same colour top and bottom, add a contrasting structured jacket or gilet over. A long cardigan can also work. Match footwear to leg wear colour. Make the jacket an interesting focal point.

Hi, I lived in Amsterdam for about 3yrs before moving somewhere else in NL. Weather in March-early April can be unpredictable, but most definitely there will be rain. In early spring I would recommend having lightweight knit, shirts/T-shirt from thicker cotton for layering, a trench coat & if possible an actual rain coat. For shoes, leather boots will still be quite handy (something like Dr Martens will definitely make you blend in), sneakers or flat shoes that don’t get wet easily can be an option as well. Jeans, trousers, or skirts (heavier ones like from suede, leather, or wool) would be great options for bottoms. Depending on how accustomed you are to chilly temperatures, stockings are “maybe” item - if you forget to bring any, there’s always a Hema where you can buy tights & stockings from
