If you hand wash clothes in the sink then try rolling them in a bath towel afterwards and twisting it before hanging them upon to dry. If clothes are still borderline dry in the morning try hair-drying them.

Not just flight attendants. I'm sick of these little women who overpack then expect others to lift and stow their luggage. If you're not tall enough to reach the overhead bins and plan to rely on others to stow your luggage for you then at least have the courtesy to pack a light bag. You're tiny - how hard can it be to pack light?

I take solid soap and shampoo and also laundry sheets, they are the ones backpackers use, very tiny and I bought toothpaste tablets and count out just enough for my trip. This all frees up room in my 3-1-1 bag. I also use Thrive mascara…it is the best, ever! Great video!x

Hi there! Thanks for the great info. My husband is making me pack everything for our 12 day Europe trip in a carryon with all the luggage nightmares going on right now and I am a panicked mess! But maybe I can do it with your help here. SO basically clothing in the carryon and toiletries in the other bag that goes under the seat? What lanyard is good to use as a crossbody with your phone? That is a great idea!
@hubspokeboutiqueeuropeanex27532 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristy! Yes, it is VERY smart to do carry-on only, especially right now with all the craziness with lost luggage. You can do it with the helpful hints here. Just pack smartly (you don't need much) and get everything that you possibly can into the rolling suitcase utilizing compression packing cubes {amzn.to/3PDnE2s} or compression bags {amzn.to/3IL4Mwl}. I LOVE having a lanyard to secure my phone. I wear my lanyard crossbody like a purse because it feels more secure. This is a longer one that can be adjusted to crossbody {amzn.to/3OlZPuV}. However, I've found that the whole attachment to the phone that comes with this is not great. So, I've been using this one {amzn.to/3RKTNHq}--for YEARS! They are sturdy and really stand-up to wear and tear. Good luck and reach back out if you have additional questions!

Great video! We share a similar packing philosophy. I travel with a carryon only for three months at a time. I have a similar travel capsule wardrobe of 11-14 items, depending on the season and what I’ll be doing. I find I can be cold, so if I know it will be cool I include a thermal top, a fleece or thin sweater and a tiny puffy jacket that fits into a tiny little pouch. I’m from Australia, and we are limited to one 7kg carryon bags and my bag is usually 8-9 kgs so I usually have to check it on the way to and from Europe but fly carryon only in the US and Europe. I have lost my tweezers and nail scissors so many times because in Australia you can’t include these in carryon bags. Some airlines also limit you to one bag only so I always make sure my cross-body bag fits in my carryon. All my toiletries etc need to fit in my carryon. It’s a struggle but so worth it to travel light. I always get bored with my limited wardrobe but there is always room to buy something if you travel light. I usually sink wash as I go using the shampoo in the hotel.

Niccole, I've listed a sampling of the shirts that I usually take along. Solids and Stripes: amzn.to/381sOoD Solids in Plus Sizes: amzn.to/3urDcxp The above shirts (although their fabric content is more than 50% cotton) dry fairly quickly. They aren't super expensive, so I've occasionally left one behind on my return to make room for treasures that I pick up along the way. Ha! I also really like the merino shirts from Woolx. I have both long and short sleeve. You kind of have to try them to see if you like them and if you do, then what style works best for you. I also really like what Athleta does with button-down shirts, but it is sometimes hard to find them in colors that work for my travel capsule wardrobe. I also LOVE Lysse button-down shirts. {amzn.to/357YuHE and in Plus Sizes amzn.to/3LfaBSE} They are super comfortable because they are stretchy and dry quickly. I hope this helps! I am headed to Italy myself next month to lead several tours. Have so.much.fun and let me know if you have any additional questions!

I like the idea of the vacuum sealed bags or compression cube. What happens if airport security decides to rifle through your bag?
@hubspokeboutiqueeuropeanex27532 жыл бұрын
First of all, thanks for watching and asking a question! I think that security must love the use of vacuum bags and compression cubes. They have no real unknowns when they open your bag and if they need to they can just stick the bag back through the x-ray machine. Everything is so neat and organized that it really should make their job easier. If they need to open a bag, it is very easy just to squeeze the air back out and you are on your way. Have fun on your travels!

What’s the brand of that lightweight rolling travel carry-on you have, the French one?
@susanf62302 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips. I picked up a few new ones like packing a microfiber cloth. I have a gauzy pull string bag and wasn’t sure if I’d need it, but like your suggestion to pack underwear in it. One thing I’ve learned recently is that security at Heathrow airport, London, for checking carryon items is very strict, even when just transiting from one plane to another. TSA approved clear bags for liquids are not acceptable to their security and everyone says they had to take all their items out of their quart size bag and pack in a bag provided by the airport security (yes very wasteful!), and the bag has to close completely. Size is 8” x 8” and no width allowance. The clear TSA approved zippered bag you showed in your video for your liquids/creams has some width and probably won’t get past security at Heathrow, according to what I’ve read.
@hubspokeboutiqueeuropeanex27532 жыл бұрын
Ugh! Heathrow! I try to avoid it at all costs, but sometimes it's just not possible. Your mileage may vary, but I have indeed gone through Heathrow security with those same clear toiletry bags. I hope that helps ease your mind but be prepared as it seems every other person is pulled off to the side for additional screening.

However, I'm in Florence as I write this and you would be absolutely fine not even including them in your suitcase. You can wear any kind of comfortable shoe for walking to most any restaurant. They are sooo used to tourists and even locals wear comfortable shoes because the streets are so old and uneven that it's so difficult at times to keep sure footing without constantly looking down. Is it truly more economical to get cash from ATMs in a country than to bring currency from the US? I'm concerned there are high fees from the foreign bank's ATM and my local bank
@hubspokeboutiqueeuropeanex27532 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question, Nicolle. It is a very good one! Check with your particular bank on their foreign transaction fees related to ATM transactions. For years, I had a small community bank that didn't charge fees from foreign ATMs. The banks in Europe had seriously small fees and I was getting the bank rate on the conversion. So it was WONDERFUL! My bank sold to a larger bank and began charging a foreign transaction fee (which was about 1%). It was still better than buying currency in the U.S. or using one of those currency exchange booths at the airport. But, I then opened an Investor Checking Account with Charles Schwab. www.schwab.com/client-referral?refrid=REFERQFD6EUMH It charges ZERO foreign transaction fees, there is no monthly fee, and they reimburse any charges from the foreign bank. You will have an investing account connected with the account, but there is no obligation to utilize it. This account was also extremely easy to open online and I just transfer money into the account as needed or you can deposit a check with the app. Please note that since Covid, I have seen a huge uptick in the usage of cards in Europe. Before, in places like Italy, you had to have lots of cash because merchants didn't accept credit cards. I use much less cash now than I did before. I mostly use my watch to pay via credit card as they've not only converted to credit card acceptance but have the most up-to-date machines! You will still need some cash, so I do highly recommend the Schwab account. 🙂 www.schwab.com/client-referral?refrid=REFERQFD6EUMH Happy travels!!

The wand is simple to stick in my bag as it doesn't take up much space or weight. Their straighteners are also highly recommended. I use the camera on my iPhone. The photos from camera phones are amazing. So the days of me lugging around a 35mm are over! Because I travel for work and am running my own business, I need a laptop. I always purchase the lightest weight laptop on the market (around 4 lbs.) like the HP Envy {amzn.to/3zeKOa6} or the MacBook Air with M1 processor {amzn.to/3aIlU9C}. However, for the traveler on a shorter trip, I encourage using your phone or an iPad instead of carrying the extra 4 lbs.!

Really good information, but the person doing the filming needs to quit bouncing all over the place please. Maybe just put your camera on a tripod instead of having somebody Recording manually.

Thanks for watching, Susan. My 12-year-old son helped me record this. He's learning, as we all are, about video and editing, etc. Happy travels!

I have to be honest I am sick and tired of everyone of these channels promoting Merino wool. I can't wear any wool even Merino is itchy on me but even if I could it's highly expensive and a lot of the people I've talked to say that it wears out very quickly for what you pay. I just think there's a lot better fabrics and frankly they're just as easy to wash in the sink and hang up and dry

Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comment. As a matter of fact, I'm currently on a six-week trip in Europe and I did not pack one merino item. I will soon have another video explaining what I packed. Spoiler alert: there is no merino. My tops are mainly Amazon Essentials. They are inexpensive, come in lots of different colors, stripes and prints and they hang well to dry. I'm especially enjoying this one (amzn.to/3P9HL9k) because it is different than my v-neck, scoop neck, and crew neck versions. We've all just got to find what works best for us and merino is certainly not for everyone. Happy travels!
