Now you´ve got a glimpse of how flamenco music goes.Guitar would be used almost exclusively to accompany the singer, adding some guitar breaks (called falsetas) between the verses to let the singer have some rest. This uptempo flamenco genre here is called Bulerías and it´s so demanding both for the singer and guitarist. In South Spain ,specially in the gypsy communities they use to play, dance and sing this music in their parties and children participate so they´re exposed to that culture from birth, that´s why it seems so natural and fluent when you hear these artists. Thanks again for showing our culture in your channel.

Camaron and Paco started as two orthodox flamenco artists but from the mid 1970es they dared to start an evolution by adding different instrumentation and influences to this music. Some flamenco critics wouldn´t accept that back then but soon they proved they were on the right track.Anyway ,you can find many amazing singers and guitarists in flamenco music. In the 1960es and early 70es there was still a bunch of artists that hardly new how to read or write but they could give you the chills with their singing or playing@@TheKillogicEffect

I have watched a few of your flamenco videos and really enjoy your reactions. I came from decades of playing viola in orchestras when I discovered flamenco, bought 3 guitars in one month and started playing 5 hours a day. I got so immersed in flamenco becuase it was the opposite of classical music ie no books, no method, they dont even read music or know the chords they are playing but it has this deep, deep soul and passion that just grabs you. I see you are fascinated by the capo cutting the guitar in half but if you notice the difference between Paco solo and this, you will see he basically plays in 1st position, rarely going very high, I think here only slid up to the 3rd fret a few times. He is also playing only 4 chords, A, B flat, C and D to accompany the voice. In his solo stuff or with the band he goes all over and has no capo. The guitar is not supposed to get in the way of the singer in this kind of intimate setting. With a band he can go wild for a big show. I love your reactions, thanks!

It truly is some of the greatest music I have ever heard and to be so technical without actually being technical is what makes it even more amazing! The amount of heart and feeling in every note is undeniable!!! Yeah I noticed the position of the capo when he uses it stays relatively in the same place! a capo is a fun way to play with tones and sounds they can really change a song and his use of them is brilliant!

Paco de lucia and tomatito were Camaron's guitars. Considered best gypsy flamenco singer ever. Camaron de la isla's name is Camaron (his nickname) and de la Isla (from the Island) refers to Isla Cristina, where he is from, southern spain, in cadiz (you can pilgrim to his grave to pay your respects if you fancy, its popular among gypsies around cadiz). Paco de Lucia means his name is paco and Lucia is the name of his mom, the way to differentiate him from other paco's in his town (Paco from lucia, literally)

it was a TV show hosted by Jesús Quintero, AKA El Loco de la Colina (the crazy man from the hill). He asks Paco if mediocre people abound, and he said yes. He asked him where he is from, and Paco said from Between two Waters (entre 2 aguas: his most famous piece), and also explained that his name is Paco de Lucia (Lucia's Paco) because her mother's name was Lucia. Do you remeber the first time you met Camarón de la Isla (Shrimp from the Island)? Yes, we met in Jerez, we were at different parties and ended up together very late and we started jamming and I was impressed by him, he is the icon of the new flamenco. More or less. They both have Duende (Goblin), which is the artists' capability to convey their art and sentiment, in this case through flamenco.

Imagine that Jimmy Hendrix and James Brown would had done several records together reinventing the blues, rythm & blues, rock & roll, soul, and elevating them to another level in the process. That's what happen with this two and all the Flamenco styles and moods. They transformed all this popular spanish traditional music into something internationaly acclaimed, and allowed Paco to get into jazz festivals around the world. Camaron died quite young and sadly couldn't get to enjoy all that. Anyway, I love your reactions to this music, you're always on point with the analysis. There was another singer, called Morente, that dare a fussion of Metal Rock and progressive Flamenco that was critically praised back then.

If you really like Paco de Lucia you should listen the song El Concierto de Aranjuez that is played with a full symphonic orchestra and Paco plays the guitar in that orchestra as a solist

Now that you've found about Camarón you may want to listen to his "La leyenda del Tiempo" (The legend of Time). First time that Flamenco Fussion was done (pretty polemic back then indeed). I totally get that you focus on Paco being a guitarrist yourself but when there's lyrics in Flamenco, voice goes before the guitar (De Lucia being "The Master" was the exception to the rule I guess but even him gives Camarón his place 😉). De la Isla was maybe considered to be even greater than Paco. Even more after his early death due to drugs. Anyways give "La leyenda del tiempo" a try. Well worth it musically speaking. It completely changed the way Flamenco was understood and approached ever after. Btw, the accent in Camarón goes in the o. That's why we write "ó". Therefore "Lucía" has the accent on the i. Just in case it helps. I know these names are hard for English speakers 🙃

And if you don´t mind another one: Maestro Rodrigo´s Concierto de Aranjuez with Paco de Lucía (classical music). Not suited for a reaction vid due to its length but anyone should listen to it at least once in their lifetime. If you´re not touched by this, then you´re not a human being. I wrote this translate on other video reaction of this live. I'm sorry for my english. I had tried to translate, but it's difficult to translate expressions from our old culture and traditions. I found him on the way and we become brothers I invited him to get on horsebak. You are asking God that my mother should die now my mother has died and there is nobody left to love you and least of all should you expect me to love you. Grandparents, Fathers and Uncles from the good springs are made the good rivers Grandparents, Fathers and Uncles. You don't tell me "no" you don't tell me "no" if your mother doesn't love me I don't love her either How do you want to love you? I was sitting in the river, over the trunk I saw a bird wanted to sing but it got hoarse, it was bewailiing his grief it was bewailing his grief I gave it water of the river from my hands and mint leaves. what do I want to live for? if my life is a ordeal since I met you and you kiss me my lips. And you kiss me my lips. What my bad luck is my destiny clashing with you when My way of living is comfortable Your affection/love is my punishment.

You have to check Raimundo Amador with BB King flamenco/blues fussion

He tenido la enorme suerte de tocar en casa de Raimundo con amigos y solo puedo decir que no he conocido a nadie con un sentido del ritmo como el suyo y una garra y pasión que no muchos músicos tienen.
