Thanks for the tour Marion - I’m going to Bangkok for the first time this Wednesday! Any suggestions on where to get Kaeng hang le in Bangkok (despite it being a northern dish?)

I love Lad Na BUT I don't order it from Lad Na/Pad See Ew stall. I usually order this dish from A La Carte restaurant because it has much more ingredients like sea food, beef etc. So you can choose a different meat you prefer. I love Lad Na Goong (shrimp) most.

It's great to see someone taking phat thai seriously. A lot of foreigners, and even some Thais (usually Thais who were educated abroad most of their lives and don't really know Thailand like they think they do), will claim Thais don't really eat phat thai or it's just a tourist dish, etc. But good phat thai vendors in Bangkok will attract long queues of Thais every day of the week. I've lived in BKK since the late 70s, and my close Thai friends love a plate of good phat thai now and then. I just popped into Sawadee Rathawat two weeks ago. Great neighborhood for street food and thankfully not overrun with foodie tourists (yet). Don't forget the lime and chilli powder!

Wow that is a lot of sugar going into the radna😮 I know that they put sugar in almost everything and the food in Bangkok is on the sweeter side compared to the south. Once I ordered dry egg noodles with pork and it taste sooo sweet. I will never forget to order noodles without sugar now.😅

That whole wok probably breakdowns to 10-20 serves. That amount of sugar seems about right to me 🤷♂️

they all look so good… but i’m a vegetarian 😭😭 are there any good recommendations for authentic thai food suitable for vegetarians?
It’s both. It’s just English doesn’t have the letters to fully communicate the exact sound it is in Thai. Pailin Kitchen recently did a video on this actually .

Was this video published with 'Lad Na' and then republished with "Rad Na' or did my eyes deceive me!? [Yes I know Rad Na is how the Thai people are meant to pronounce it - with a rolling 'R', and Lad Na is how they actually pronounce it-- apparently!]

Seems like he added to much broth for the padsee ew the noodles look too mushy
