A nice video of the Hopkirk special. I have spoken last year to Paddy on the phone for several reasons but they include that my grandfather and father were in the same 1964 Monte Carlo in two cars. They started in Russia too and my father was number 38 in a Ford Cortina GT off the start behind him. I have the original rally plate, I also have a JCW red mini of the model you show, mine is being decalled as these but number 38 to go with plate which is being mounted on the bonnet just for car events and i shall be visiting Paddy with my car. My grandfather also was a winner of the Monte Carlo rally (in 1952 in an Allard his own car make) he raced in 14 Monte Carlos and dad did 5 , my grandmother with great aunts also raced in the event in 1952. Paddy knew my grandfather and we had a fantastic chat, did you know that the famous grand prix driver Jim Clark rented a room in Paddy’s house in London? Motorsport lineage is often connected. You are correct that in heavy snow conditions the mini was almost invincible in the hands of an expert as Paddy, it won again two more times which should really have been three. My family also competed in the other years mini won in 1965 and 1967, in 1966 they won until disqualified. My family were Allard Motor Company limited but also ran the second largest Ford dealership in London in the 50’s to 70’s, l personally like the mini brand very much and shall be using the car in short hillclimb events and sprints. It is pleasing a small car can be really popular in the USA even with that high price tag!, its the same on our little island. Gavin Allard UK

@@TheMINIVlog there’s a rally green mini with no stripes black rims and white roof and mirrors and it truly pops! Every time I see it while I’m driving at work I truly consider it better looking than mine! The white really brings it out on some builds correct!
