Glad to hear your update! That is understandable why you held off for a couple of years. I remember seeing an article from Compassion Canada years ago about period poverty, and it made me determined to make sure my older girl boxes had a reusable menstrual.

I love your perspective and experience with this program its helpful. I'm a maker of gifts as filler and agree it is all how the Lord leads then leave it up to Him to direct each box to the right child!

Absolutely! God gave us so much creativity and imagination... I'm sure there are so many ideas out there to fill boxes and bless kids.

Umbrellas, great idea! There is a great org. Days for girls intl, I used to volunteer with that makes and distributes menstrual kits to girls who need them. I like hearing about the OCC ministry, I was wondering how kids are contacted and invited.

It is local churches, pastors, NGOs, and foundations who sign up to hose evangelism events (to give out boxes) who are the ones who invite kids.

I would love that. Any particular missionaries you are thinking of? We work closely with 4 other missionaries here in Colombia. All of us came together to make youth camp possible.

I love watching your videos. I truly appreciate them. Have you ever had a child receive a box with very little items in them, while the other children have full boxes? If so, was the child upset that their box wasn't as nice or full? Also. What is the best wow item for a 10 to 14 girl?

I'll answer these questions in the next video. :)

Thank you for the information. I do appreciate it. I have struggled with toys -- especially for older girls (10-14). There is a real push in online forums especially to include stuffed animals. I'm from an American Indian background. Animals can be heavily entangled with indigenous/traditional religions -- all over the world. (Christians aren't entirely immune; the metaphors of the OT sacrificial system are woven into the Christian worldview.) Even if the kids are Christian, worldview doesn't sanctify/disappear overnight. For example, I'd never give a Native child a stuffed owl toy because in so many Native teachings they are messengers of death and/or witchcraft. Even if the child was Christian, the parents/siblings/extended family might not be. And in some tribe's teachings, the malicious power might affect a relative and not directly the person who transgressed the system. But, then I think of a Dine' Christian friend who really connected with parts of the New Testament, because he had spent summers in his family's sheep camp, tending his grandmother's sheep. I feel really torn. I've corresponded with folks, who were pretty dismissive of the idea. The premise seemed to be, if the children had accepted Christ they shouldn't be affected by the old ways. I'm three generations removed from the last person that practiced the old ways, but I still know some of the omens, taboos and teaching associated with the animals. I included 2 stuffed, very unbearlike bears, this year. But I am still uncomfortable. Do you run into this? What would you advise?

Such a good question. Thank you for asking. I'll talk about this one a bit in our next video.
