LOVED IT!!! I want to say WELL DONE mate! I am going to be making some scenery for wargaming next week and this just solved my egg problem so TYVM. I did not think think about using colors in the hot glue tendril's before. I have used colored glue sticks before but I never felt I got a good return on the investment. Now I have a very nifty little trick to add to my tool box. I don't know if you have tried this but there is a vastly cheaper alternative to the resin....clear PVA glue. It can't do everything resin can but for something that is self contained like this it is a huge money saver.

That is so weird, just the other day was having some pistachios and thought these must have a use in modeling. Was thinking of some sort of fruit in the middle of the plastic ferns you can get as a grass matt. Never thought of them as alien eggs, that's really cool!

you can get low temp hot glue in clear and colours . The wax crayons melt at a low heat or experiment with the coloured glue sticks or try crushed pastels. a lot of modeller use them in the weathering stage.

wow. one of the best tutorials out there...so many different techniques and ideas...crazy and way beyond normal tabletop gaming standard... can you give me a tip about needlesize and air pressure when you use the vallejo varnish? also is it diluted?
@Paepercuts7 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much glad you enjoyed it! I usually use around 15-20 PSI for my varnishing. I dilute my gloss varnish 1:1 with distilled water, and satin/ matt 2 parts varnish to 1 dist. water. Straight from the bottle it is very unforgiving and it will clog up your nozzle really quick. Make sure you add your water in the cup first and then the varnish and mix to prevent this (or mix in a seperate cup) Needle size i use 0,2 and also 0,15 doesn't really matter, just make sure you wear a dustcap or something similar as this stuff can be hard on your lungs i found out ;) Good luck!

These are fantastic i wish i seen this before i made mine i used the similar texture technique but i used quail eggs and paper masheyd(is that how its spelt) around the eggs then cut it into 4 seperate bits then arranged them for the overlapping shape. Then had the smallest fried eggs ever haha. Great work.
@Paepercuts7 жыл бұрын

Great tutorial and creativity. Thanks for sharing. Where I'm from it's not easy to find the gel you use could it be possible to use a spackling paste? Thanks again, keep imagining and creating!!!
@Paepercuts4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Technically you could, but spackle is quite crumbly so it will be difficult, you may have to mix it with some PVA glue to get it more 'gelly'. You may want to search for clear/ transparent caulk next time you're at the hardware store ( in a re-sealable tube ) It's cheap and is very similar to that gel i'm using. Good luck!

why are oil washes a thing? I've been seeing them more and more lately
@TheRunesmythe7 жыл бұрын
Well, they provide access to colors that you may not be able to find in acrylic washes and they tend to have better cohesion and the colors seem to be a bit richer. A big thing with them though is that, unlike acrylic washes, they're very easy to remove from areas you don't want them in using some more white spirit; with acrylic washes, if you've sealed the surface you may still be able to get most of the wash off but it generally takes a lot of time and work, whereas on the same sealed surface oil wash will come away quickly and with minimal effort.

aangezien de tentakels zijn gemaakt met lijmsticks hoe hitte bestendig is het eindproduct?
@Paepercuts7 жыл бұрын
