Pagani Design / bersigar PD1651 Modding, What Parts Fit And Which Dont (PD Yatchmaster MOD 2020 )

This video will looking into what modding parts you can use between a Pagani Design PD1651 diver and common Seiko original and mod parts.
After i did my review on the Pagani Design PD1651 Yatchmaster Homage i got a ton of questions asking was it a good what to mod and what parts fit into it. Well being a modder i had to find out. The results are good as well, yes not everything fits that you would normally put onto a Seiko SKX mod build however there are a fair few. The other added bonus is you get a complete watch so you can wear it out of the box and mod it as and when you feel like. Sit down and have a watch ;)

Great News. Compared to the SKX, you get a better watch for 1/4 of the Price. Better Movement, better Crystal, Display Caseback, ceramic Insert. I have one in the Mail (black on Bracelet) and it looks like I take the 300 I´ve set aside for another SKX to buy three or four 1651s.

I’m looking at picking up a PD-1651 with the yacht master bezel and putting an aftermarket white MOP dial and red seconds hand in it. Can’t beat the price for what you get compared to building a Seiko from scratch.

VERY GOOD! You just got a new subscriber 😁 When modding my own sub homage with Seiko parts, I faced the same issues. I wanted to use different styles of bezel and crown in my build, but just couldn't find any that would fit. I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a sub style case fully compatible with Seiko AM parts 🤤 Regarding the crown compatibility, though, the answer seemed simple: just change the crown tube! Of course, for that we'd have to know the threading measures for the Seikos' crown tubes, which I couldn't find anywhere 🤔 If you ever come across the answer for this, please make a video about it! Hi am I correct that 1. Slope bezel inert for SKX007 or Seiko 5 fits perfectly but flat type can fit as well with a little gap. 2. Crystal replacement is possible for any 30mm crystal with thickness at least 3mm for proper alignment with insert.

Great video! I've just bought the pagani pd-1639. I know it is a 43mm but would fit most of the seiko parts as it has a nh35 movement in it. Im struggling to find information on what bezel insert i can use.

@@gazs7572 sadly no the 40mm version fits fine. I gave up with the 43mm completely the crystal fell out and I ended up having to glue it all back together 😐

@@joepotter7763 That doesn’t sound much fun at all. I think the 40mm will be a bit small for my wrist. I might just buy a used Seiko from Ebay & mod that instead. Bit more expensive but the possibilities expand massively.

Hi and thank you for this video, which got me decided to buy this watch for modding :) One question though regarding the bezel insert. A 3:39, you say that Parnis 40mm bezel inserts are compatible, but the bezel insert here (and on SKX) is 38mm... Shouldn't I look for 38mm Parnis insert rather ? Thanks for your help :)

they bezel is some cheap crap which is retained in with a wire, i removed the bezel to realign the insert and i cant put the bezel back on.

Do you think any of the available 120 click bezel springs would fit the case? I actually quite like the relief bezel so was hoping to improve the action & fine alignment of it with a double tang spring.

How did you put in the bezel insert into the pd1651? Put a knife in between the bezel and the top of the case to pop the bezel off and then remove the bezel insert? I'm curious

There is a gap between the crystal and the insert, so just slipped a thin blade down it and ran it around working it up as a went. The insert needs to come off to show the bezel retaining wire you need to remove if you want the bezel off. :)

I’ve bought a Bezel insert that was listed for an SKX007 but it is too small. I’m not sure if my the listing was wrong or my Pagani design is a little bigger.

The blue insert just doesn't go with the dial.

No it doesn't, was just a spare ceramic that i had to test sizing. The watch will be put back to stock and all the parts used in it going back into there original builds ;) However planning on getting some to do mods on for the future.

I’ve read some of your comments, and as far as I can tell, you do this by putting knife between the crystal and bezel insert and slowly working around to pop it off. Is that right?

Thank you very much for your video. I have a question before proceeding to remove the insert with a knife in the (minimum) space between the glass and the insert. As when removing the bezel, it is very possible that it will be damaged. Do you think it would be possible to remove the bezel from the inside? In other words, removing the caliber and the glass. Since the polygonal wire that holds it could be accessed and released.

Well i have taken 3 of these apart and had no issue removing the insert. You can't really get to the wire any other way :(

Back seal is pritty standard. Crown uses a seal on top of the stem tube and by the look of it has one within the crown. :)

The best way i have found is to get a thin bladed item and slip it between the crystal and the inser. Then slowly go around lifting up the insert bit by bit. You won't hurt the crystal but have to be careful of the insert.

@@GrimwoodWatchModding This is an easier method. Soak the watch face down in acetone (nail polish remover) for one hour. Then rotate the insert, it peels off easily after the acetone has melted the adhesive. Regards.

Remove the bezel insert using acetone (nail polish remover). Then remove the bezel retainer spring. Bend the angles of the spring in tighter. This tightens the bezel resistance, so less backplay. Regards.

Dial and bezel insert are a bezel insert to take out. The movements are generain, get many nh35 movements through my hands for modding and these are genuine :)

The crowns use different seal arrangement so 90% sure they won't be compatable :(

Hey, nice mods. I tried to remove the bezel from mine because it was really loose and wanted to see if there was something wrong. And now I can't for the life of me manage to put the bezel back in place. It just seems there is no way of locking it down, or did I lose a part without realizing it? All I see is that wire inside the bezel. Would really appreciate some help with this.

Right what you should be able to do is remove the wire from the bezel. Fit the bezel back on the watch, you when feed the wire back in :)

Weird thing to happen, sounds like the retaining wire wasn't in. Normally you take the retainer wire out, put the bezel back on then slot it back in again.

Grimwood Watch Modding Yeah the retaining wire was in but wasn't catching the bottom of the case to secure it. A little bit of fiddling and I managed to get it back on in the end though 👍

Konservativer Revolutionär by putting a knife between bezel and crystal. It just popped the whole bezel off though. Managed to eventually get it back on but it came off again and now won't clip back on at all. You get what you pay for I guess

@@calmdownkid They come off easy using this method; first soak the watch in acetone (nail polish remover) face down for one hour. Then remove the bezel insert. Under it you will see the bezel retainer spring, you remove this; and the bezel comes off. No prising needed whatsoever. Regards.

I think the UK and US prices are around 70... I know in Canada they are hovering around 120. I think they are getting popular and taking advantage of it... When I got my 1639... total with shipping was $67 CAD.... it's still under 100 on some Aliexpress stores but barely.

You have to remove the insert and then take out the bezel wire should just pop off :)
