The only 50's retro-futuristic supercar that will probably ever exist

Still think Zonda is the most beautiful Pagani, especially the early models with the split rear wing and a-pillar mounted side mirrors. My favorite part of the Utopia must be the wheels... it looks like it's going 300km/h when standing still.

Sadly, if we are looking at the technical side, this is basically slightly updated Huayra with different bodywork and a manual gearbox option. Before the release they were talking a lot about how they were focusing on lightweighting, but the car is actually heavier than the Huayra BC and even the BC Roadster. I actually do like the look of the car (and I think it will grow on some people once they realize what the design is trying to achieve), but I was also expecting it to be a bigger step forward technically. One thing I am definitely not sure about are those leather straps on the outside of the car. I can't see them lasting very long exposed to the elements and random rocks and dust and grit.
@captain_context99912 жыл бұрын
Yep. Im sure its all very arty and clever. But this looks like just an upgraded Huayra. -- And about its looks... It looks like its a 15 years old concept car. Its just overloaded. This doesnt feel like a step up for Pagani.

slightly updated? this is significantly better and faster, and exceptionally light
@test9876652 жыл бұрын
@@THESLlCK The car is 62kg heavier than the Huayra BC and 30kg heavier than the Huayra BC Roadster. The BC Roadster was weighed at 1398kg, so this should be something like 1428kg. That's decently light by modern standards but nothing special, it's about the same as the Mclaren 720S. This being a 2M+ hypercar it competes with things like the GMA T.50, which at the kerb should be about 1050kg. Now THAT's "exceptionally light". As this car only has 60PS more than the BC Roadster and weighs 30kg more, the power to weight ratios are not that different. 605PS/t vs 572PS/t. So faster, but I wouldn't say "significantly faster". I also don't see anything that would make it "significantly better", as most of the construction and the way they do things are the same as on the Huayra. As I said, the biggest difference really is the addition of a manual.

@gregorklingman67722 жыл бұрын
Best in terms of technical, maybe worst in terms of design. The body and features CURVE, but do not FLOW. There's a big difference. The designer looks like they thought about each part separately instead of as a whole and the whole thing looks gaudy and over designed. Each area of the car is doing its own thing and it's an honest mess.

I won't classify it as good or bad looking, but on 5:09 Zonda with canopy and overall "slimness" is so more attractive. 2nd problem is that Pagani, just like rest of smaller manufacturer does not have money or resources for more elaborate aero. When you see they were with Zonda on top of supercar lineup, Utopia is now slowly becoming very exclusive and expensive next "765LT" competitor. From car that eventually could fight vs Enzo, they ended up Utopia fighting SF90. Flagship supercars now tend to have extensive aero (like MB AMG One, Valkyrie) and Pagani can't keep up. Still if ladies are paying 10k euros for a bag, guys will pay 2-3-4 mil for Utopia I guess. I would knock on Murray's door.
@captain_context99912 жыл бұрын
Yeah Murray is alrady sold out until the end of the petrol engine. So good luck with that. Probably the same at Koenigsegg and Bugatti. But yeah. I dont think anyone sees this car as a step up for Pagani. This looks overloaded and weird.
@Padlyko Жыл бұрын
Try to think this way. All this cars anyway never hard hit the track. They stay in expensive garages and occasionally roll on streets of famous places and back roads. Zero point on all that aero whatsoever. It is just a piece in someones car collection. So Pagani did embrace that idea, and made an art in the first place, and only then it have a v12 and manual transmission. It may not be for everyone, as any art should not, but it is at least different to any other modern supercar, that more and more looks the same. And honestly, i like how it looks. A breath of fresh air, and IMHO this, and hyundai N vision 74 is the best looking cars for last decade

I’m back from hating this car for a solid year. to suddenly growing a deep relationship with the car. I didn’t fully appreciate the design till I connected Metropolis 1927 as a potential source of inspiration for this car. This is not confirmed anywhere but it’s startlingly close and something I’m deeply emotionally tied to. Such craftsmanship.

Pagani sticks with metal frame on each side of a big carbon monocoque because crash structure and engine mountings are not allowed to be in carbon due to crash testing and stuff.
@ohedd2 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna go with worst. The design is not groundbreaking, which was always Paganis MO, and the technology is absolutely not groundbreaking. So the car simply has no redeeming qualities outside of brand recognition, and basically being a collectible riding on the success of its predecessors.

I think it's a fantastic looking car that's let down by slightly fussy detailing. But technologically it's quite conservative, the concept of a carbon tub with steel subframes is basically unchanged from a Zonda.

If you like its design is completely subjective. But what bums me a bit on the technical side is, that although it looks at first glance like something close to the Valkyrie with its LMP styling, the Valkyrie is leagues ahead conceptional.
@lknanml2 жыл бұрын
Looks wise it's the worst for sure. Seems like a step backwards and I wouldn't call it rolling art like the other dream machines they make. It almost has a kit car look to it. Especially the side windows and entire rear view of the car with doubled up rear glass and all the humps. Almost looks like the engine is melting the car causing it to sag in the middle between the tail lights.. It will still be an awesome car but yea.. It's no looker that's for sure.

The Utopia feels like when movies make a prequel telling the history of a franchise instead of continuing with a sequel. The Utopia feels like the grandparent of the Huayra. It feels bad when a car company misses the design mark, but it's way worse when exotic car companies miss, we have to stick with the design for 10 years.

Imo i like the design but it doesn't give off successor vibes to me tbh, it feels like a one off or special edition car. It looks too similar to a zonda and a huayra. I was expecting it to share similarities but feel like its own thing. Like the huayra shared some similarities with the zonda but felt like its own thing. This doesn't, i just see a zonda and a Huayra mashed together
